Rolla Coach resigns

A loaded roster returning...however...I would say there is a reason that a good coach/teacher is walking away from that situation...

There has to be something else going on behind the scenes. They return almost the whole roster and was a game away from the final four after being one of the worst teams in the state not too long ago. I would be extremely cautious of that job if I were considering it. This looks and smells like the cooking of stupid parents with too much influence or a stupid school board with an ax to grind.

I am a witness to the parents’ behavior and it may very well be an issue. Everything is the coaches fault and the refs are against them. Blah blah blah. That area is filled with ignorant parents and board members. Coach made the right decision.

Nobody should have to put up with the abuse Luke took from a few parents. In fact he might consider a lawsuit for character assassination. He didn't deserve that kind of treatment, nobody does.

That’s a shame. Been there myself. Not fun. Can’t understand what joy parents get out of it either.

Do you think he will coach again? Seems like he just got that program rolling and then he gets the rug pulled out from under him.

So was it a situation where parents thought he was playing the wrong girls or something else entirely?

Probably something to the effect of:

1. You aren't playing enough
2. You aren't in the correct position
3. They are giving you enough shot attempts/type of offense
4. You don't need to play high school basketball to get into college, just play for us

May I add ...
5. The kids aren’t smart enough to figure out their HS coach plays with the hand he’s dealt, where as the AAU coach gets to hand-pick his team. Then AAU coach tells the kid “your HS coach is the reason you’re not winning games for the school team.” Been there, had that done to me.

It’s sad that a coach that has been successful and not only is a good coach but teacher is literally ran out of a situation because of parents and AAU “coaches” who think they know more. I use coaches lightly because most of the time these “coaches” are just parents of a kid or two. They watch a few coaching for dummy videos and claim to know more than people who have been through long season and practices. Know one knows their team more than a coach that is with them for 8 months out of year. This guy turns a program around and all you see is negativity. The best part is he hasn’t taken any shots at anyone on his way out. It’s sad that sports and schools are controlled by people who think they know more than the guy who is with them all year. Rolla lost a great coach and probably a great teacher. Maybe coach Parker will be their fix. I feel sorry for him because unfortunately I don’t think it will matter what he does it won’t be good enough for the know it alls in that community. One day these parents will look back and realize they ruined their kids HS career and tried to ruin an adults life with some of the garbage thrown around on social media and other places. Best of luck to coach Parker. He’s a good coach but man if I were coaching I wouldn’t want to be there if someone paid me blackout money...

The freshman parents there are going to get a wake up call after the 2020 seniors graduate.

Some people just can't handle it when their kid isn't Michael Jordan when they hit varsity basketball. That senior class, along with Coach Floyd, are the main reasons for Rolla's success. Rogers, Janke, and Pritchett all create different problems for opponents.

I have a real problem with parents and a wanna be coach trying to downplay the accomplishments of rolla's all state guard. One even went as far as to post her stats along side another girls stats that wasn't all state. Here is the difference.. rolla made it to the quarterfinals. The other girls team lost in the first round of districts. Rolla played the team and beat them 82 to 48. Why as an adult would you try to disrespect a high school girls accomplishments on the court? jealously?

Doesn’t need to be like this. Everyone take a breath. From former Coach that dealt with young and old talent. Plus parents/AAU

I've found that the majority of parents are great but that small % spewing their bile around a program can do unbelievable damage.

However, district leadership deserves the blame when a situation gets this bad. The 1st thing a board member should say is "have you talked to the coach? AD? The parents need the truth from administrators/ board members, "You're nuts".

Some of the worse parents I have seen also.
