Saw their Freshman ROCK squad of 75-80 kids get beat 58-0 by a Class 4 school that had 38 kids.
Possibly not the A team of the Frosh class, but what?

Is it over for Rock? The environment just too much to overcome? St. James, Bishop Miege, Aquinas, Pius, and others...pulling? Along with high-end new suburban highs that are hard to leave?
Do they need to focus on hitting as many low income areas as possible? More recruiting $ needed?

Where is Mr. CEO when we need him for answers?

Maybe they can Trinity this sucker and turn it around. Heavy recruiting at IL schools, Independence, Schlage, Harmon, Wyandotte...

Turn Rockhurst into the U!

Use a Howard Schnellenberger strategy of recruiting...

Top Targets:
6th to 8th grade
1. Make sure youth programs available in target areas.
2. Camps free for students eventually going to these schools/districts.
3. Hold "sports fun days" with contests...to acquire contact info.
4. Hire assistants from best youth league team coaches.
5. Boosters, boosters...do your thang. Tuition, travel, commuting... Bosko knows all this stuff.

Fort stomped them as well. Twice as many kids as we had. They made us play on the practice field so all the parents had to stand on the curb in the parking lot to watch directly behind the team. No video either. What a dump! LOL

Blue Valley is the one pulling a huge majority of those kids. Those schools are just as good or better than Rockhurst academically and they are FREE. That district barely existed 20 years ago. Maybe 1 high school at the time. Seriously, the average income per household in Blue Valley has to be one of the highest in the country for a district that size.

Median family income B.V. district = $117,000

Gotta think Johnson County KS is about full. Exactly how many new Blue Valleys and Olathes are there now????

Kearney played Blue Valley 1989-90. Smoked them the first year at the old (kinda miss that old place what memories) elementary school field then got the reverse the next year when they had some QB named Brian Schottenheimer. At that time that was the only school..........

You are a couple blocks away from the nearest mini-mall...no traffic worries.
When we lived in the KC metro, I'd break out in cold sweats every single time my wife mentioned going to JoCo for something. Especially if it involved dinner on a weekend. No amount of bourbon could calm me dealing with the crowds and people. Plus, lots of Chickenhawks folk there.

For some reason this thread reminded me of something I heard a long time ago.

Rockwood here is Stl is close at 116k and similar size. Ladue is smaller but 130k median income. Crazy that many schools in the BV district. I think it’s bigger than Rockwood, with their schools

Don't know why but it's a pointless peave of mine that the prevailing method of naming new high schools it just to regionalize them instead of giving it a name associated with the community or a figure. I guess no one can agree anymore on who or what is worthy of such recognition. So we get sterile names like Town West or Town North to avoid offending anyone.

Kudos to Columbia for putting some actual thought into their new high school names.

It wasn’t their freshman A team. Take a look at their sophomore, freshman A, and JV teams Records if that’s what you want to judge the program on. As for varsity; 3 of the varsity teams losses are to “top 10 “ teams - CBC, Desmet, and Ray Pec, and a fourth loss to Bentonville.

Jeff City, too (Capital City instead of Jeff City directional).

What I remember about Randy Miller is I was in high school in the mid 90s and on April Fools Day he and Johnny Dare switched radio stations without telling anyone. My 1 and 2 presets were 98.9 and 104.3. I thought my radio was broken the whole way to school!

That is three seasons with 5 (or possibly more this year) losses in the past 9 years... The Romans have the barbarians at the gates.

Haha thanks Johnny Dare was another character back in those days!
