that teams will start practice for the season (in all the fall sports) and not know what district they are in. There is no reason this should take so long.
There are always schools that start practice and realize they don’t have enough kids and then they cancel the season and it’s created 7 team districts in those cases and could change a school on the border enrollment wise what class they will be in. I believe they are trying to combat that from happening, hence why they are waiting to see who is playing 11 man football before they announce the classes and districts.that teams will start practice for the season (in all the fall sports) and not know what district they are in. Terrible analogy. NCAA bowl games are based upon your play in the regular season so there is no way of knowing before hand. District alignments are not like that at all.its not ridiculous. What district you are in has no impact on preparing for your season. I guess NCAA schools should be pissed they don't what bowl games they are in in august.
That is a fair point. But no matter how or when you do it there are going to be issues that lead to 7 team districts. There are always schools that start practice and realize they don’t have enough kids and then they cancel the season and it’s created 7 team districts in those cases and could change a school on the border enrollment wise what class they will be in. Illinois is one of the worst run states in the nation for all things.Post season is the post season. What district you are in has no part in preparing for a season. How is it ridiculous? I doubt the coaches or ADs even care given they are the reason it was changed. Schools in Illinois don't even know what class they are going to be in until the playoff brackets are posted

Schedules are created prior to the other release date too, so no, it doesn't affect other teams scheduling. Other sports, just like football, made educated guesses about who would be in their district. It's not affecting anyone very much, other that driving people crazy waiting for the release (me included).Illinois is one of the worst run states in the nation for all things.
This does not impact football as much as it does some of the other sports who rely upon scheduling district opponents in the regular season in order to give a clear picture of district seeding. When you delay district alignments this severely impacts that. Of course it does not impact football with the points system that determines district seeding.

I'm all for bashing MSHSAA on stuff, but I think this is one thing they are getting right.
In some of the other sports the schedules are not always finished by the release date.
How long have you been on this board? This is a football board. Focus on the topic at hand.
