Thayer returns to the South Central Association for the 2010
season joining a solid league that includes five programs that advanced to the
playoffs a season ago. Though a class 1 program the Bobcats appear ready
to challenge league heavy weights for the conference crown.

South Central Pre-Season Conference Notes:

1.Thayer--
The Bobcats will be among the top teams in Missouri Class 1, however
they will challenge themselves returning to the South Central
Association where they will be one of the smallest schools.

"Thayer, they will just reload and know how to win, they are a
tremendous class 1 school that plays a very physical style of play",
said an SCA coach.

SCA coaches have selected the Bobcats who finished 9-2 a season ago as
the top pick in the pre-season coaches poll.

The offense much replace all-state running back Josh Huckabee and his
2000-yards of offense, and a talented offensive line. Senior
running back Cameron Carey(5-10 180) looks to take on the additional
caries. He will be joined by sophomore Gody Gitzen(5-9 175) in the
backfield.

Junior quarterback Jared Foley(6-2 175) returns along with
Jeremy Cabrales(5-10 175) the Bobcats top receiving threat.

The Bobcats may not escape SCA league play without a blemish or two on
their record, but they will certainly be tested and battle ready for the
playoffs.

2.Mountain View Liberty--

For just the second time in school history the Eagle
football team earned nine victories, sharing the a piece of the SCA
title for the first time in school history, and advancing into the
playoffs.

The Eagles return quality talent providing a very
positive outlook for 2010. Senior Daniel Porter(5-10
200) LB/RB rushed for nearly 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns a season ago.
Senior Coty Martin(6-0 200) LB/RB/P earned all-league
honors as a sophomore and in an injury season as a junior compiled 61
tackles.

Junior quarterback Kole Gastineau(5-10
165) returns with a year of experience under his belt. Gastineau
tossed 18 touchdowns and is an outstanding defensive back for the
Eagles. On the line senior Clint Smith(6-0 195) returns at
offensive and defensive line where he earned all-SCA honors.
Junior Cody Stringer(5-11 170) returns at HB/DB and will be a difference
maker for the Eagles.

"We have several returning players who have been a part of making
history at Liberty, winning 18 games the last two years", commented head
coach Darin Aklin. "They know what it takes to win and still have
some pieces of the puzzle to compete on Friday nights. We return our
starting QB, RB, H, WR, and two offensive lineman on offense. We bring
back six starters on defense. We hope that this starting experience on
winning teams will carry over to this year. Experience must pay-off for
this team to compete in 2010."

3.Mountain Grove--
9-3 a season ago the Panthers return just one
offensive starter, three on defense and open the season looking up at the top
ten rankings in Class 3 for the first time in many seasons. Most feel the
Panthers will be there in the end of the season when it matters most with
development throughout the season. Senior linebacker Garrett
Eaten
(6-1 183) and junior George Lada(5-9 224) return
to lead the defense along with junior defensive back Preston Ary(5-8 188).
Frank Lada(5-9 220), a senior offensive guard is the lone returning starter.
Junior Shaun Anderson(5-9 164) should step in at quarterback for the Panthers.

The Panthers are a very inexperienced
on paper", commented head coach Steve Ary. "We hope that some tradition
and a great off-season will make this team very competitive. Some people are
counting us out, but, we refuse to think that way."

4.Ava
Daniel Swofford returns in season No. 2
following a 7-3 opening campaign in which he was named Coach of the Year.
On offense Brett Lambert will be called upon to increase offensive production at
running back with the graduation of Josh Wendler.

The defense should be solid with the
return of a trio of all-conference performers including senior linebackers
Garrett Eaton
and Taylor Coonts,
senior lineman Pete Leonard,
and senior defensive back Garrett Baird.

5.Salem
7-4 a season ago under Hall of Fame head
coach Bill Schchuardt the Tigers never seem to have a down year. A solid
junior class should produce another solid season of Tiger football.

6.Willow Springs
Following a 4-7
season culminating in a playoff appearance for the Bears, head coach Matt
Perkins returns for year two with a roster full of returning talent. Nine
offensive starters return for the Bears led by senior wide receiver Clint
Harper(6-2 180) a big-play threat. Senior QB
Cole Johnson
returns
along with senior running back Brandon
Pitts
(5-8 190), senior running back Travis
Wake(5-8 165) and much of the offensive line. Keep an eye on senior
lineman Jon Martin(6-5 280) among the best in the leauge.

The defense also returns nine starters
led by senior linebackers Allen Brasier(6-2
195) and
Thomas Moore
(5-9
210). Senior Joe Chilton(6-4 245) is a solid returnee on the line.

With 23 letterman returning
Perkins is excited to start the new season. "There are 16
seniors on the 2010 team and a healthy dose of juniors 13 playing in
2010. This team features big play potential as my pick for conference
most valuable player Clint Harper will have a huge year this season at WR/return guy.
Allen Brasier is a LB coming off his first high school season in which
he led the team in tackles with 118 and tackles for a loss with 18. This
team is poised to make a move to the top of the conference but will need
to learn how to finish games. "

7.Cabool
The Bulldogs return
from a 1-9 season with low numbers, just three seniors, but return a speedy
group. Three offensive and four defensive players return for the Bulldogs
including the following starters: Donovan
Baker RB/DB 5'8 175 SR Ryan Tate OL 6'0 190 SR Collin Beesler LB 5'10 175 JR
Sam Roberts CB 5'11
150 JR Clayton Manning CB 5'9 155 JR Nate Christeson OL 5'10 200 JR

We won't be very big on our line but we should be pretty quick
so we hope that will balance out", commented Sloan. "If we have any depth
it will be in our skill positions. IF we have a strength right now it would be
our team speed. With numbers being down it is very important that we stay
healthy."

8.Houston
Following a 2-8 season Houston hired David
Williams to lead the program. Williams who takes the reigns of his fifth
SCA program has had success at every other stop.
