The SCA conference and the Ozarks has lost a coach to cancer. Joe Easter has been to Norwood, Stoutland, Ellington, Purdy, Seymour, Houston, Cabool, and Mtn. Grove. He could turn a program around and be a big influence on the lives of the young players he coached. His last days were in Mtn. Grove as an assistant to Duane Hiler. I rooted against him a few times, but only during the game as I supported my team. The rest of the time he was as much an influence to me as a high school sports fan as others in the bleachers and parents who appreciated him. Cancer took his body but it never took his spirit. Rest in peace Coach.

My first meeting with Joe was at Missouri State team camp in 2000. I refereed some of his games there. It was my first summer referring. A few weeks later I saw him at team camp at MU. He told me the coaches at the Missouri State camp rated me the 2nd best official in camp with all the others tied for 1st. I asked where my trophy was.
Joe was a great guy and will definitely be missed.
