Republic vs Miller

Republic 52 Miller 45 final

Miller let it get away. Up 6 midway thru 3rd and the turnover bug hit. Republic hit some big 3's down the stretch.

Republic had their run when they finally got some quick ball movement against that zone, found a girl underneath for a layup and another for a wide open 3. But again, the way Miller plays that zone really impresses me. They pretty much have it down pat, almost seems like they have 6 players out there, and it'll take a smart and disciplined game by opposing teams to beat it. And that's if they even make any open shots they get from outside. No team is going to get much inside against them except maybe on offensive rebounds

Yeah, defensively they are fine. When they start getting more consistent on offense and players 3 and 4 start making shots (which they will) they will be so much better. Right now Hadlock and Helton are scoring 90% of their points.

These tough schedules are going to do nothing but help. Blue Eye vs MIller (rematch) in the Sectionals could be as good of a game as we will see in any class this year.

I agree, and whoever wins that game will play Ellington (I think) and that will be a great game also! Ellington has an easy road to Springfield.

Anyone have any thoughts on northern Missouri girls teams in Class 2? Who is the favorite to make it to Springfield?

Wellington-Napoleon made the Class 2 FF last year and like Blue Eye and Ellington, return just about everyone.

Bishop LeBlond is ranked in the top 5 and is undefeated but they lost to W-N last season by 20 in the quarterfinals, so it remains to be seen if they can get past them in the state tournament.

Two other northern Missouri teams are ranked as well (Scotland County, NE Cairo) but I know little about them. Cairo just lost to a 6-3 Salisbury team but Scotland County is undefeated and beat Milan, the team with MSU commit Cady Pauly, by 5, and they also made the FF last season so they appear to be the real deal. They lost by 13 last year to W-N and by 7 to Blue Eye in the final four games

Strength of schedule is always a question for teams from rural northern Missouri, especially when they run up against more battle tested teams from other parts of the state.
