Republic 59. Grain Valley 48

Bekemeier seems to be at her best against teams that also have D1 signees/prospects, on both ends. She steps up to the challenge, had 28 pts and Slaughter was held to 10

She signed pretty early and probably just wanted to stay home.

I’m certain that if she had not yet signed more offers would be rolling in

Why hasn't she gotten better offers?
There was hesitancy because a lot of her scoring is in mid range, and at 5’8” that’s not really a viable option. She struggled in summers against real length. There’s not a lot of athletic length around here, so it’s not been an issue. MSU is a great level for her. She can succeed there.

Missouri State has one of the better women’s programs in the Midwest.
Not anymore unfortunately. They are going to have to rebuild and turn a lot of things around if they want to get back to the level they have been.

That seems a bit premature. There's a difference between a good program (which Missouri State has) vs. a good team (which is still in question for this year). They have been a recent Top 25 teams with a great run of tournaments/successes in the past decade. Thats a great program if I've ever seen one. Yes they have taken a step back in terms of talent with Coach Mox leaving but they're still 7-4 and 2-0 in the league. I highly doubt that they'll fall off the face of the planet due to coaching change. Thats what makes a great program. Whether it's coach Burnett, Harper, Mox, etc all have been able to win in Springfield. Heck even Coach Abe who got ran out of town won multiple league titles, went to the Dance, and won an NIT.
