I think we can all agree about how bad the Rankings have been. I was curious how much time it would take to come up with decent rankings. I went to the Mshsaa website and just looked at Class 3. I spent no more than 15 minutes to come up with my rankings for class 3 which I think are pretty accurate. I’m sure you could do all 6 Classes in an hour or so. So people saying how hard it is or how long it takes to do them are full of crap. If you can’t spend an hour doing them then don’t volunteer to do them.

Class 3
1. Skyline
2. Monroe City
3. Miller
4. Tipton
5. Strafford
6. West County
7. Steelville
8. South Calloway
9. Barstow
10. Licking
Other receiving consideration
Milan and Sparta

I think monroe city plays a super weak schedule . Id like to see them in person. Im watched game film on barstow vs ozark . They ate a miss match for alot of teams with their height and they have to k-state commits. So i curious of if they are good or not as the only familiar opponent for me was ozark

for comparison i looked at max preps schedule strength and monroe is like -0.7 where team like miller +8.2 and skyline +8.7 also looked at barstows and there is only 3.7 that said i think Barstow is a match up prob for small teams like skyline at 4 of 5 spot if not all 5 but again ive not seen barstow be pressured so will be curious to how plays

I do wish the coaches were required to post their scores in Max Preps. The rankings would be so much more accurate if teams would post their scores.

What is telling is how soft some of these teams' schedules are according to Max Preps. Monroe City, Milan, Tipton, South Calloway all have negative ratings on their strength of schedule. Not that they aren't good teams it is just hard to get a grasp on how good when they do not play anyone.

You can become a scorer on max preps for dif teams and report the scores. I do for a team

If maxpreps has enough data in their system, usually 7 or 8 games, it is shockingly accurate at determining whether a matchup will be a blow out or close game. Teams within 20 or so is usually really close, within 50 or so rank of each other is usually competitive, and more than 50 difference in rank usually starts being blow outs. I would love for teams to be required to put schedules and results into maxpreps.

If they did this MSHSAA could do what I've always thought would be great for the playoffs. For each class, split the state into quadrants, pick a few neutral sites in each quadrant, and then have every team seeded using the the Maxpreps rankings. The winners of each quadrant are the Final Four. This keeps a lot of top teams from being lumped into the same district and knocking each other out right away.

This is a way more accurate ranking than anything that has came out yet for class 3 girls. The rankings have been awful up to this point. Licking and Steelville both are top 5 teams. Their strength of schedule are second to none. It’s a shame these kids aren’t getting the state recognition/ranking they deserve. Teams like Diamond, St. Pius, and Twin Rivers would get beat by 25+ by plenty of teams not ranked right now in class 3.

Strafford just came out of a tournament where they beat Class 5 ranked Rolla- and Class 4 ranked Hollister. Strafford won the tournament and Sparta and Licking were both in the tournament as well..... as I have said before, it all comes down to who is playing in March.

Strafford fell out of rankings and Diamond stayed number 5 after losing 3 games last week to Marionville, Seymour and Billings. I would be embarrassed to even release the rankings.

Now you can really tell they put zero efforts into these this year.

Im not familiar wit to many of the teams steelville has played but max preps only has there strength of schedule at 3.5 or so at last glance so i willing to bet theres isnt to tough.

Steelville has only played like 2 ranked teams

Looking at what just came out, of the 6 classes, they've played 4 ranked, and 2 others with votes. I think they beat Class 2 #2 without their starting point guard, and there is a whole post dedicated to what they did against Class 5 #7. Single digits game with Class 4 #6, and played Class 5 #2 tight, having it within striking distance in the fourth before falling by I believe 12. That's almost a 3rd of their season against teams at least someone thinks should be in the polls. Downplaying what they've done just seems like what's already happening with the current poll situation. Licking also being severely overlooked...playing right with or beating multiple teams on this list. With the games they played just last week against Class 3 and 4 #4's. Both these teams strength of schedules is legit, and their location seems to be taking its toll. Pretty shocked St. James is getting no love also! And Everyone knows what they are capable of!

Will be interesting to see how plays out

I posted this on the other "Rankings" thread.
Maybe Coaches on some of these teams you think should be ranked (like St. James and North County that was mentioned on the other thread) are perfectly ok with their teams not being ranked. They can fly under the radar and it puts less pressure on their team. Are the rankings for the players/coaches or the parents & coffee shop drinkers to discuss and be upset about because their team isn't "ranked". All that matters is how far you can get after Districts start, Right? Just my thoughts!
