If public schools go to open enrollment, do we still get to hate on the private schools?

Obviously yes. That’s not going to help schools out in the sticks.
it may help the small schools.

look at valle. They dominate class 1 with a class 3 talent pool.
Can't get out of districts in the class they should be in

Let some west side public school coaches stock rosters and look out.

Can’t do it guys. There are about 10 schools districts that are just to far away from everyone. If it can’t help everyone then **** the ones that it might.

Exactly. You finally got your head out of your hind parts.

Perfect example of why our left leaning educational system is failing.
It’s not failing in any of the rural schools in a 50 mile radius of my house, but just keep repeating your right wing talking points.

Well according to you that’s like 2 right? I’m sure they are right up there with schools in Finland or Japan.

Want to know how many rural school districts are listed in the top 20 in Missouri?

It’s 1. 1 total district.

FYI open enrollment only became a right wing talking point when leftist realized they might have to let poor and minorities into their white suburban schools.

That happened 40 years ago when I lived in the STL area. You really know your history.
It was right wingers who fought against it.
Bahahahahaha

You’re deflecting but I’ll bite.

It’s left wingers that ended it. Shocking right.

FYI St. Louis is left leaning and has been for a very long time. But yeah lets blame right wingers. It’s like you don’t even try to know what you’re talking about.

How many more years of a super majority in both houses of our legislature is needed until our republican utopia is established?

My biggest question to this and I don't know all the details, but wondering, what happens in each school district? Are they able to limit who they accept because of building size, student to teacher ratio? I look at JCSD for instance, what if 100 combined kids from JC and CC transferred to BO or Russellville? Does either school building have the capacity for those kids, do you have enough teachers? Does the JCSD still get the tax dollars for that kid or does it go to the other school? I'm assuming an out of district kid would have to have their own transportation. I know everyone looks at this from a sports perspective, but I think there are a lot of other things that this would effect.

How about we fully fund every school in the state and do everything we can short of banning books to make it the best it can be.

If you run a 4.7 or below..you in.

Last years, open enrollment bill, and assume this years will as well, had a clause in it that had students sit out a year if they went to a school outside the district they live.

Don’t disagree with that however I don’t think 50 shades of grey should be available in a school library. Go to the local public library if you want to read it that bad.

Also good luck Getting wealthy areas to equally fund schools. Who do you think pushed funding based on attendance

I believe “the day” is a euphemism or something for “our current times”.

Many different layers to this. There would be a disparity of impact based on the population concentration. Just in the Northland of Kansas City, you have a web of schools that are 15 minutes from the nearest other high schools. But if you are in Sedalia--you have maybe two options? How does it work in other states?

I remember when a certain political party was against government intrusion and was all for 'the more local control the better'.

Not anymore.

Just like the 4 day schools. Do they realize schools that go to 4 days are performing better on the tests the gubmint requires?
Let local school boards decide. Stay out of it.

Looking at other states, it looks like schools can deny a request for open enrollment.

  • The application violates the district’s insufficient classroom space policy,
  • The district does not have the appropriate special education program,
  • The application would adversely affect the district’s implementation of a court-ordered desegregation plan, or
  • The student has been expelled or suspended.

A district can elect to accept students from other districts or not. They can limit the number they will take in each grade. They can say they will not take any 4th graders but will accept up to 6 3rd graders etc

Accepted:

Jermaine Jones 6'1" 185 7th grader
Tyreek Mosely 5'11" 190 7th grader

Rejected:

Rich Smith 5'1" 120 7th grader
Stan McCheese 4'9" 95lbs 7th grader

To be fair, a trained monkey could get to that required level on testing. But your premise is correct, let the locals run the schools. Just don't bail them out if they screw it up. And don't limit their successes either.

The thing is, we want kids in the Joplin area to be able to transfer to Webb City. I mean, after all, there is a new regime and they need to be able to stockpile talent. Whatever it takes.

Don’t they just use grandma’s address?
