Question for thinking football guy

In the long list of things I don’t understand in life, what is the point of the rule that you can’t scoop and score a muffed punt? Any thoughts?

I also don't get being unable to advance an onside attempt. Ball is live.

I found on the internets that back in the 1930s a lot of teams would just let a punt roll or fair catch out of fear they might cough it up for an easy TD for the punting team. So they call it a muff and a dead ball if recovered by the kicking team. So it’s an antiquated rule.

I propose we petition MSHSAA, the NCAA and the NFL to change the name from “Muff” to:
“Muffy-Muff-Muff”.

I remember back in the 70s my sister used to watch a show called H.R. Puf-n-stuff. And I always sang H.R Muff and stuff just to be annoying and crude.

I know, but we have to make hay here while Bosko’s gone. He only appears M-F, between 7:30 am and 2:45 PM, August thru May.

Bosko, like all the other Doc Guys, takes a much needed summer hiatus. I fee like that's been discussed before. AND hes retired from American Pipe & Steel. He only has time to post when his booster club president schedule allows him to.

Ok you clowns, lots to discuss here. First, Shoot said it best. Everyone on here blames us Doc Guys for "hijacking" threads. I wont dig into how we don't do that because this thread was already derailed, and a Doc Guy hadn't even commented! Second, I post when I wanna post. Yes, I am retired from American Pipe & Steel. That has really allowed me to spend more time on my booster club president duties. Youre already on thin ice Raw, because of those comments about my wife! So you better watch it, or you'll be finding us having a chat! Lastly, I only received broken and disclosed fingers from playing FOOTBALL. All the students love my high fives!
