I hadn't heard about it until this week, but MSHSAA moved the quarterfinal and semifinal games to Saturday at 1:00 p.m. It was in the football playoff instructions posted on the MSHSAA website last month. Apparently a reminder email was sent to coaches last week, as well. If both teams agree to play the game on Friday at 7:00, they can.

Just thought I'd mention this because I hadn't seen anyone post anything about it before. I hadn't looked at the championship brackets on MSHSAA before now, but they do appear to list Saturday at 1:00 as the game time for all the quarterfinals and semifinals. When they posted the bracket for the semifinal pairings, the dates were for Friday games. However, the playoff instruction manual does say, "Games 13-14 will be played on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. unless teams mutually agree to play on Friday by the time bracket information is due. Motion passed 9-0."

Did everyone know this? Weren't all of these games played on Friday last year? Do you prefer the game on Saturday?

Depends upon how far you have to travel. On some road trips unless you leave work early it is hard to make it by kick off on 7 pm starts.

Compared to driving from WC to Jeff City on a Wednesday night back in 2010, neither is a bad option. My opinion: leave it to the two participating schools to decide. A Saturday game is best especially if there is a significant drive. Also, it has been relatively warm so far this year but the sunshine of an afternoon game can be a warm welcome while sitting in the stands in waning weeks of the season.

I love Saturday afternoon games at Cardinal Stadium. Lots of really great memories both as a player and a fan in that setting.

Yes, and I know a team that prefers Friday night. Many of their players have church commitments. I'm quite sure they have contacted the schools by week 5 about re-scheduling.

Apparently if Reeds Spring and Mtn.Grove play in the quarterfinal it will be on fri night at Mtn.Grove

Saturday afternoons in November always make for some windy days at the nest ! (Mountview/Liberty). Never helps with that passing game.
