This article talks about if the NCAA went to paying players how 95% of student-athletes would become extinct, which made me look up the profitability numbers below.

I knew two compliance officers from the NCAA who told me this a long time ago, pretty much what you have here in this spreadsheet. The financial model for the sport is being driven by the top 20 or so money makers. All the shaping of conferences, and TV schedules. etc...

This is why we need P5 schools to form their own league while the G5 and FCS should combine. The top 20 are playing an entirely different game than the others.

This sheet also explains why James Madison football admin was very against the move up. They went from being a player in FCS to 45 mil in debt with all the added expense that FBS brings.

Thats not even close to being accurate! When I was involved with the Ampipe Booster Club, ALL programs saw RECORD profits!

MY PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS put players in the best spot to be successful. Does that sometimes mean moving from TE to WR? Sure! Just another reason we are successful!!

I would think most FBS football programs are in the black, this is a table of the athletic department’s net Gain/Loss as a whole. Would see some real ugly numbers if they excluded football related advertising/ticket sales/donations revenue streams from that figure
