Priory lost to Westminster 63-6 on Saturday. Their team must've all come down with an illness, because Priory says they can't field a team and have to forfeit for the safety of their kids. Anyone wanna buy a bridge and believe them? I'm sure a cure will be discovered in time for them to play the following week. It's an outbreak of "Du Bourg-itis".

To be honest...if I was Coaching I'd probably want to play the game because that's the way I am wired. Hell...if I was Custer I'd tell my troops I liked our chances at Little Big Horn.
But in reality...looke at the scores...this game would have been brutal...if I was the AD and not a Coach...not sure I wouldn't do the same thing.
Being a heavy underdog is one thing...LittleBigHorn and Alamo type mis-matches are another thing...these got Custer, Davey Crockett, and all their troops ALL KILLED!
Lutheran North isn't doing anything that Lamar hasn't done to teams for the last 10 years at least. They run the ball ... VERY well. They jump out on teams and score points. They aren't passing the ball when they're up by 50. When's the last time someone accused Lamar of running up the score? The margin of victory might be large but opponents aren't getting injured playing North or Trinity or Lamar (outside of normal football stuff). Priory told its team "You can't win, so don't even try". Which is bad. What's WORSE is those kids know the real reason they're forfeiting the game, and they have to cover the lie. Priory fielded enough healthy kids to play last weekend and none of their players got knocked out of the game. They had at least 35 kids dressed. Now Priory has the "L" and they have the shame of running from a GAME.

Merritt at JBS was accused by Park Hills Central, Oak Grove, Bowling Green and basically every other public Class 3 team of recruiting for years himself. The email he sent read like an angry ex girlfriend flipping out because she got dumped and isn't hot anymore. He spent the last 12 months leveling allegations to MSHSAA and anyone else that would listen about all sorts of violations he claimed Lutheran North was guilty of. MSHSAA listened, they investigated and all of Merritt's claims were disproven. Not only that, but his actions pretty much have sealed his fate at the school as Head Coach. When you spend more time making excuses for losing than you do preparing your team ... you KEEP losing. If it weren't for a Kick Return TD by Jake Bain, they'd have lost to Priory. They beat Dupo, IL by 52-0 and that team looked like they didn't even remember their own plays on offense.
Lamar wins and they have for a long time, but they aren't blessed or holy and there isn't magic in the water in SW MO. They're fortunate to have had an administraton, coaches and parents that stuck with the plan while they built their program. It also doesn't hurt that they don't have any other high schools to compete for kids with and have more kids come out for football than any other team in Class 2. MSHSAA made the transfer rules. People that disapprove should take their complaints up with MSHSAA. Anything else is just gossip.
Not a Lamar fan, but it appears they have done just that. That's what you have to do when you "don't have any other high schools to compete for kids" - they build them instead of cherry pick. But I guess if you can't beat Trinity, you might as well join them!
Once again, MSHSAA does not make the rules, the coaches and ADs who vote on the rules do.
Sounds like you have an issue with private schools in general ... and that's a personal problem. As far as not being able to beat Trinity? You are misinformed. Trinity win it's first District Championship last year. Trinity hadn't beaten Lutheran North ONCE since it was formed in 2003 until last year's game. Families move to SW MO, too. When they do, they change the schools their kids attend. Lamar and every other public school with a strong team isn't as pure as the driven snow just because they're paid for my public tax money. There isn't a private school boogy man out here cheating public school kids out of their glory. Excuses like saying schools cherry pick sounds more like jealousy than fact. I get it though. Teams in Lamar's conference probably make up all kinds of things to cry about when a little Class 2 team beats them every year.

Not a supporter of private school athletics, however how are they to get students if not from other districts? If they try a little harder to get an athlete who cares? Personally I think private schools can fill their programs with athletes but they will never attain the community support of a successful public school which is a vital component for LONG TERM success.
Private schools don't "take" kids from public schools. Kids that live in a community don't belong to the area schools. Parents CHOOSE to send their kids to private schools. As far as parents selecting a private school for their athletic programs? It absolutely happens. It also happens at public schools. The biggest beef people have about how "unfair" they feel private schools are is because they see kids that are exceptional athletes and they're mad that they don't go to their local public school. There may not be a ton of families that move to Lamar's district, but there are probably a bunch that stay there because of their winning football.
Priory didn't announce their forfeit publicly. It isn't even noted on their school's website. Just the week's scheduled events, with the Varsity game omitted. It popped up on the twitter accounts of several STL Area sports writers and it came up during a prep sports segment on 550 am radio, but that's about it. Priory doesn't want any attention on the subject. They just want to not play Lutheran North and just make it all go away. I get that.

Merritt sent his email on April 24. I knew about it several days before he'd even sent it. It's no coincidence.

Starting to think that these guys that keep deleting and reposting their “man up” posts (so that they appear as the latest post in the thread) are all the same guy; perhaps some Trinity or LN fan trying to legitimize what those two schools are doing...
In today’s age of “peaceful protest”, I for one have no problem with these STL area schools protesting what Trinity and LN are doing by not playing them.
