If a kid cussed in my PE class I made them do pushups. I did that for years. A few years back I was called in to the office because a mom said I humiliated her son by making him do pushups in front of his classmates. This type of stuff made it very easy to retire.
When the day arrives when I cant make the whole offense run around the goal post after three bad plays in a row then I will be bye bye again.

You started it fat boy when you threw beer cans in the coaches yard. No respect for discipline.
Easy now buddy! You clearly have no idea who I am!!! Stef was the one dumping trash on Coachs lawn! I was too busy slashing tires on the jeep! Now, I do regret my actions that night and I have tried my hardest to right those wrongs. Now dont cross me!!!

Yeah, good job trashing his house while you were drunk...coach should have had you arrested. AND his BABY was at HOME. Their are two types of disciplinary coaches. The first (unqualified) will yell at players and degrade them because they have no idea how to correct the problem other than "effort", and the second are coaches that hold players accountable in a stern manner but coach them how to correct the problem and players respect them. The first type have no business being around kids the second are good coaches. There are plenty of other effective coaching styles that promotes success as well.

I don't remember getting cussed at, or a coach grabbing my facemask. I do remember getting benched. 40 years later, i remember exactly what i did to get benched. Maybe I was lucky that I had coaches that didn't do these things, or maybe I don't remember because I just considered it part of the process of becoming a football player. The worst thing a coach could do was not let you play.
Coaches leave lasting impressions, good or bad. 35 years later, I certainly remember mine and I'm thankful for their influence in my life. They were tough, but never out of line.

I do this and had a parent not happy about it as well. Suggested I send their kid to the office instead. Yes Sir!

will hold them accountable in a stern matter, like look at them with a frown, crap, that is why got so much bs today, yes I will tell them how to correct what they are doing and what they did wrong as they are getting oppurtunities to excel
I can't remember where I heard this, but I think it holds pretty true still, as long as you communicate to them the problem with their actions.

in other words can get after their butts but don't loose respect because they are just idiots. If you coach football you know their are plenty of coaches that are not effective yelling and kids have no respect for them.
