Pretty good article by Bernie on Mathenging.....

Spot on assessment by Bernie. Heck, anybody can see many of the things he pointed out. AC still in the middle of the order is just crazy. He's a 6th or 7th place hitter when he plays. JHoney needs to hit cleanup, at least while he's hot. I'm a bit tired of watching Big City double with 2 outs, only to be followed by a AC twelve hopper to the left side. Mind-boggling. The use of Dirty Dan is much of the same. He's a one-trick pony in the field, as a very average 2B, with no prayer of ever being a serviceable SS. And he can't hit a lick. He's sorta like how I described (in jest, of course) my 7th grade bballers, we're small and slow but make up for it by not being very smart!

Fact is, MM is trying really hard to show the Birds brass and the rest of the baseball world he's put his big boy pants on. And in doing so, has shown a lot of people just how poor of a decision maker he is. Part of this could be tagged to Mo. Either DFA or send down Dirty Dan. That takes one mind numbing decision away.

This can't be true. Drop.tine's neighbor is 80 something and played class D ball and says Matheny is a hoss. There is no way you know more than him. I don't know what his drinking buddies at Fort Carson think though. But I am sure they know more than you.

Does anyone still like Holliday in the two hole? He can't bunt when we need one but he has the DP ball down pat.

It really takes the wind out of it when you get the leadoff man on and then hit into a DP. I'd rather see a guy who can handle the bat a bit there. But look down this lineup and tell me who that is. I don't see Tommy Herr over there. The only one I see is the guy usually standing at first base waiting to be moved along. Maybe I'm having a Roger Clemens moment and mis-remembering but I think that may be what this team misses most about Beltran in the 2 hole. He seemed to be able to come up with something positive when they needed it. Holliday has never been about bat control and has always hit into a lot of DPs. Him in that spot just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If MM is going to continue the love for AC I'd almost rather see him try batting 2nd. Maybe he would concentrate more on moving the runner than trying to drive him in. It certainly wouldn't be any worse than what those two are doing now. If not him then put Wong there. At least his speed can cause some problems.

Duck I am convinced it doesn't take much to know more than you.

No doubt a guy like Beltran who is hitting well in the #2 hole would be nice. I'm not really sure who that guy is on our roster.

Holliday might actually be the best choice. I want Carp first, Adams 3rd, and Peralta 4th. Want someone else getting on base before Adams and Peralta so they can hit them in. Holliday is #2 on the team in OBP.
