I think it would be great if each high school team that is not playing in the playoffs get to schedule one game against someone they don't usually schedule, but fans would love to see. The games could be played after Thanksgiving either on Friday or Saturday when the high school playoff games are not played. I can think of a couple right off hand that have not played each other in years and are located close by.

Every team gets one "playoff" game in week 10, the first round of districts. You think bad teams should continue to practice another couple of weeks to play against another bad team? At that point, winter sports have started, and kids on bad teams are ready to move on.

I think bad teams would continue to practice for a week or so to play against a team they can be competitive against. A team who has gone 1-9 might love the chance to end the season with a dub.

I've always kind of wondered if the 1-2 seeds (in and 8 team district) should get a bye while the 7-8 teams play each other in week 10 for pride. It would make the regular season matter a little more (you would have to earn your way into districts), it would do away with some of those lopsided 1-8 games, and it would give some bad teams the chance to end the year on a high note. Might be easier for a coach to keep a team motivated in practice knowing that there is a winnable game left on the schedule.

I think some kids wouldn't play in a game like this but it would be fine for the kids who want to play.

Bad teams want the season to be over. No reason to waste the time prolonging a bad season. They also face the possibility of losing another game to make it even worse. I agree on the districts needing revamped. Everyone doesn't have to make it.
