What could possibly be the explanation that makes ANY sense to where MM kept Choke in the game to face a RH batter? Will someone, anyone, please explain? This is what happens when you hire a manager that has nothing but Chesterfield Little League on his resume. Let's be real, real, honest. MM has benefited from a talented roster and a front office that makes more good decisions than bad. These two major components of the organization have masked his inability to manage, plain and simple. Remember last year, he was the only person on the planet that apparently didn't know David Ortiz was white hot and the only Boston hitter that was going to beat them. And that is what MM allowed him to do. It's just silly.

Bernie don't forget to tack on to Matheny's misstep pinch hitting for a commanding Lackey who'd only given up one hit to their PITCHER after the 1st and who was sub-80 on pitch count for the lackluster hitting Descalso in a game just tied with NO ONE ON and 1 OUT! This was as egregious as all the Choate disastrous missteps by him later. No excuse imo for pulling Lackey at that juncture until Lackey showed signs of fading. And if you're gonna do that stupid move….use Taveras - oh but I guess he was too busy in the clubhouse doghouse workout room trying to get some extra conditioning.

Matheny just seems to have what I would call common sense break-downs. Leaving Choate in that long was just plain bizarre.
