Porter may not be a "one and done"

I have seen him play. IMHO, he is a unbelievable high school ball player, a good D1 college ball player, and will be an also-ran in the NBA. He should get his education.

I don't like or watch the NBA basketball but it doesn't matter much what he does after he gets to the NBA if he gets millions to go there, plus the endorsement money that will come his way. He can get his degree AFTER he plays it out in the NBA. IF it turns out he can't cut it then he'll get it at a fairly early age and have the money to pay his way easily. Not to mention even if he's just an ok NBA player he will be very well payed to hang around with some team for several years.

He gone. Take it from a UK fan who sees this every single year. And listens to the fanbase wish, hope, and dream. Enjoy the season and the attention that comes with it. Hope they get another piece or two to make it a great run that gets the snowball rolling downhill and the program turned around.

Since the rookie scale changed, exactly zero projected 1-3 picks have returned for a second season. That might be 1-5 lottery guys, can't remember from the podcast. Bossi, head hoops analyst for Rivals, was the reference. Said Porter would've been that in 16. Would be that this year. And will be that in 18. He's unbelievably high on him and his NBA potential. Many of the experts say his closest comparison in the last 10-15 years is Durant.

I hope you weren't hoping to retain any credibility around these parts.

Just giving an opinion. No disrespect to the young man, just think it would be wise to get an education. As I said, I have watched him, and just personally don't believe he is the next Lebron.

You and everyone else however, can have any opinion you choose. Time will tell.

You're missing the point. The guy could be the next Anthony Bennett. That doesn't mean he should stay in school. 1st rounders have guaranteed contracts for millions of dollars. He's looking at an 8 figure deal.

You can always take some of those millions and go to college later.

You have to hate money to not go pro if you are a guaranteed lottery pick.

Just for perspective, he won both national player of the year awards plus the McDonald's All Star game MVP. He was only the 4th or 5th guy to do it. Other guys on that list? Dwight Howard, Chris Webber and Alonzo Morning. No, he's not a guaranteed star, but he's probably the best bet since LeBron.

Point taken.

Neutron Monster a lot of people were surprised to see Anthoney Bennet go that high! I coached against Porter 3 times and all our fans always said he ain't that good. Try coming up with a plan to slow him down wasn't easy even when he was a Freshman and Sophmore. I also always thought he made the game look so easy and effortless that he didn't look as impressive as he really was. REALLY REALLY GOOD players make it look easy! And he did that better than anyone!

The kid has won on every level so far. Hs, AAU circuit by winning the NIKE Peach Jam, National HS championship, Gatorade POY and McDonalds all-American game. You do not do all that with "not being that good". The kid has developed over the years. Best of wishes to him no matter how it turns out. He has a ton of pressure on him now with the whole state thinking he will turn Mizzou bball around immediately.

The good thing is that he will have lots of help around him.

trifecta0323, Can you name the players who will be helping Michael Porter Jr.? How many rotation players will " Suitcase Martin " and the Porters bring in for the 2018 Missouri Tiger team? Can we give a " Thumbs up " on the 3 new asst. coaches hired by Coach Suitcase Martin?

Wow metro suitcase would you pass up the chance to leave MO state to go to Tenn. Would you stay at Tenn when they are signing petitions and booing you every home game. And if your goal is to coach in the midwest would you stay on the coast:eek::confused::rolleyes:

Suitcase is a name used when a person changes jobs every 2-3 years. Most coaches should try to move up when taking a different position. Coaches who make ' Lateral " moves usually indicate unhappiness or a posse is being organized. How many lateral moves has coach Martin made in his four coaching jobs in 10 years?

1. Missouri State--Mid Major
2. Tennessee------Move up from Missouri State
3. California--------Lateral
4. Missouri---------Lateral-Minus

If we rate Tennessee, California and Missouri based on the past five seasons, which one would be the better coaching position?

1. Tennessee
2. California
3. Missouri

I think will see about this depending on how long his tenure at Mizzou lasts. The move from MSU to Tennessee is a no brainer. Tennessee to California in my eyes was a smart move with how he was treated there even if it was a lateral move. California to Mizzou in status from the last few years appears to be downward move, but for a midwest/STL guy AND probably having a pretty good idea about how the Porter situation was going to pan out, why not come back to Missouri? If he jumps after a couple years from Missouri, then I don't see any arguing with what you said.

Porter Jr. will be staying a second year to play with his brother and is trying to get the 7 foot 1 inch Bol Bol to commit to Mizzou in 2018 with his brother.

what is your source? I'm also not entirely sure Bol Bol's frame will hold up against the physicality of SEC bodies.

Instagram where he made a statement about coming back, and my Superintendent and I was discussing it today. He wants to play one year with his brother, and his brother is not going to reclassify to 2017.

Martin is not going anywhere unless he is fired. He is home.

Suitcase Martin's record of changing schools speaks for itself. If a posse is being formed, he can and will make a lateral move. These are the good times for Suitcase Martin because of hiring Michael Porter Sr. as an asst coach. This way of recruiting will run out after Michael Porter Jr. leaves Missouri. The younger Porter is not a savior for Missouri basketball.

The two players Missouri needs are from Webster high school and they have committed to Louisville and St. Louis University. Suitcase Martin should hire Jay Blossom @ $ 300,000.00 per year to get these two player. This might help future St. Louis talent to enroll @ Missouri which would be a better investment then Michael Porter Jr. working his " All Star " friends ( One Year ) into enrolling @ Missouri.

Recruiting is the least of my concerns with Martin. He's shown at Mo State, Tennessee, and Cal he can recruit high level players.

You are right cow it's what he does with those recruits that counts and I think the jury is still out on that. All this hoopla about being a tournament team might be a bit premature.

Given the current roster and commits, yes. If Tilmon joins, still yes but less of a yes. If, big if, Tilmon and Knox join, not premature at all. If, bigger if, Tilmon and Knox and one of the guards join...MU fans better be ready to have some fun!

Some say all Roy Williams does is role the ball out and let his guys play. That seemed to work for him!

We know martins teams will defend and he can recruit athletes. That means they always have a chance. Throw in ascorer here and there and his teams can be special.

Jake, Can you give us an example of the players Suitcase Martin has recruited @ each of the 3 Universities he has coached?. Nathan Scheer from Borgia was a Missouri State recruit back in 2010 Under Suitcase.
