This is huge. Ukraine has been begging NATO countries for fighter jets. Poland's statement that they are ready to send MIGs to Ukraine is a major step for Ukraine's ability to fight Russian air strikes. Russian bombing of cities and power structures is devastating Ukraine with damage and morale. NATO countries have been reluctant to send jets for fear of an escalation of war and the possibility that Ukraine will use the jets to attack inside Russian territory, further drawing the alliance into the war.
I'm glad Poland is stepping up instead of it always being the US taking the lead with military aid. If we are going to continue increasing our military assistance to Ukraine, I expect every NATO country to put in their pound of flesh.
