I guess indefinitely may not be very long. If he can play with a fractured rib he's tougher than most. I had bruised ribs from a car wreck once and tried to play ball 3 weeks later. The first time a ball was hit to me in the outfield I threw it back in and followed right behind it. I was absolutely not ready to play yet and I was in my 20's at the time.
