The most competitive bracket is the one with Willard, Skyline and Ozark in it.

Willard plays Walnut Grove tonight. Should be good game. I think Walnut Grove beats them.

Wheatland got a 4 seed while they were voted the 3 seed in the Hermitage tournament and just lost to Climax Springs by 25. Who seeds these things?

Yes Wheatland getting seeded at all was probably not a good call. But then again looking at the unseeded teams, I’m not sure if any of them deserved a seed. Maybe Lebanon instead of Wheatland?

Glendale won yesterday vs a different Clever team than we have seen in past 4 or 5 years maybe they can pull upset over wheatland in 1st round

Surprise Surprise... Glendale gets a "random" good draw. Almost seems like the coach has connections somewhere in the AD office.

That was Glendale's draw last year, and a 7 seed (granted it was Repo) in 2018, 6- seed Blue Eye, then 8 seed Spokane. That's a pretty good 5 year run of "random draws"

Yeah I think we know the connection going on there...

I think Glendale beats Wheatland. They can't score but they play very hard and scrappy. They were down 16 to Clever in the mid-third quarter and came back and won on a buzzer beater, forced a lot of turnovers.

Clever rebounded and beat a solid Ash Grove team last night by 14, despite a size/strength disadvantage. They have had chemistry issues in the early going but the talent is there if they play smart and together and know and stay within their respective roles.

I wonder how many teams early season problems are due to their schools not letting coaches work with kids over the summer? Some schools restricted the activities and some schools were full speed ahead.

Clever was one of the ones who were limited, but I was not privy to any other team in the area whose actual head coach could not have practices and take their team to different summer shootouts and such. Other teams got in 20-30 games with their actual coach this summer which put them way ahead of schools that were partially or entirely limited.

I'm sure there were other teams who were limited to doing nothing with their coaches, but so far I have not heard of any.

It is my understanding that Ozark had restrictions as well. I could be wrong.

I thinks early season struggles could be more attributed to team who have a lot of girls that play volleyball as well. Non volleyball girls have been in the gym the last few months getting ready for basketball. Most volleyball players don’t do much basketball stuff during volleyball season. I know Miller has one starter that doesn’t play Volleyball and the last few years she seems to look like their best player for the first month or so till the other girls catch up.

Early season struggles Could also be attributed to quarantine. I know teams who have had the bulk of their varsity quarantined for 14 days and released on the day of their 1st game or shortly before. I think the whole season could likely be up and down for several teams

Lots of things could contribute to struggles early on. The “Pandemic “ dont help with some being not able to practice together thus taking a while to gel but how many of those kids on those teams that couldnt have summer camps took it upon themselves to shoot at home and work on personal development? I bet not many. Sometimes we have to work harder in bad situations to rise above.

So any upset predictions?

Here are mine...

Pink division

Glendale over #4 Wheatland

Ava over #4 Central (Ava has already beaten Central this yr)

#3 Skyline over #2 Ozark (assuming both teams win first round games)

Best matchup could be #3 Mt Vernon vs #2 Strafford in the second round of the Central High School division. Very tough game to handicap if that one happens, but ultimately that would be one of the best games of the entire tournament.

Skyline could also knock off #1 Willard in the HIllcrest division.

No one is going to beat Kickapoo. They will win the Pink

White division

Can't see any first round upsets, Rogersville might have the best chance vs #3 Eldo Springs or maybe Parkview over #4 Blue Eye

#3 Waynesville over #2 Carthage in the second round, this will be the best second round matchup

I also think Waynesville (or Carthage for that matter) could knock off #1 Nixa in the Kickapoo division, they match up well with them, but ultimately I think Nixa wins in what looks like the weakest of the four divisions as well as the least amount of difference between the top 4 seeds. Blue Eye can give Nixa a battle if they match up but they may not have the depth to beat them.

In the Glendale division, Republic could give West Plains a game assuming both teams reach the finals of that division, which they should fairly easily.

Whoever wins the Glendale division (West Plains or Republic) will beat Nixa or whoever comes out of the Kickapoo division and win the White.

Nice to see all local teams in it this year. Should have happened in the past.

Wheatland won't lose to Glendale after all, because Glendale pulled out due to COVID and Wheatland wins in a forfeit and becomes fodder for Kickapoo in the second round

Pink Division predictions for the first day.

-Kickapoo beats Catholic badly
-Mt. Vernon big over Clever
-Strafford beats Lebanon badly
-Willard by a lot against Hillcrest
-Ava beats Central, like someone else said, they already beat them once
-Skyline wins comfortably against Marshfield
-Ozark big over Bolivar
I like seeing games, but this first day won't see many close games I'm afraid.

White Division predictions for the first day.
-Nixa big over Spokane
-Blue Eye beats Parkview in a kind of competitive game, I'm thinking by 15-20 points
-Waynesville big over Buffalo
-Carthage crushes Branson
-West Plains crushes Greenwood
-El Dorado by 15-20 against Rogersville
-Republic big over Aurora
I think this side will have some more competitive first round games, but not many.

I agree that there doesn't seem to be a lot of close games in round 1, but there could be some really good round 2 matchups.

The best girls game of the day probably will be Miller vs Hollister at the Walnut Grove tournament. That takes place at 7 tonight

Since I follow COC conference teams and assuming both teams win today I think the Waynesville/Carthage game will be one of the most competitive games tomorrow. They match up well.

I think hollister is overrated but we shall see

They have Bug, who is great, and then some girls that know their roles and generally don’t try to do things they can’t do, which is a testament to their coach. He’s really coaching that team up.

That being said, if I had to pick a winner of that game, I’d go with Miller.

How many girls did Hollister lose from last season? Didn't they upset mt.vernon last season in conference play.i wouldnt underestimate them but I think Miller has more overall talent.Ill take Miller by 5 pts

Miller won by 2, 50-48, over Hollister. Game was tied when Miller got fouled and made both ends of a one on one with about 2 seconds left. Not a good foul obviously by Hollister

As far as the Pink and White.... Parkview hung with Blue Eye for a while, but ultimately it got away thanks mostly to turnovers.

Buffalo played Waynesville closer than expected and only lost by 5.

Clever and Mt Vernon were tied going into the fourth but Mt Vernon had a big run off of some turnovers that put it away

Strafford destroyed Lebanon

Nixa destroyed Spokane

Poo soundly beat Catholic

Willard destroyed Hillcrest

Marshfield gave Skyline a game, but lost by 12

Central got payback against Ava, winning 50-41

Ozark beat Bolivar 55-23

Republic destroyed Aurora

Carthage by 14 over Branson

West Plains destroyed Greenwood

Eldo beat Rogersville 63-39

A few surprises today, but not many...

Mt Vernon beat Strafford by 5. Strafford looked great in dismantling Lebanon yesterday, so this is a bit of a surprise.

Skyline beat Ozark.

Nixa beat Blue Eye by 10

Waynesville wins by 10 over Carthage and now plays Nixa

Central took Willard to overtime but lost by 2

Kickapoo destroyed Wheatland

Republic beats Eldo by 8

West Plains wins handily over Camdenton

In what might have been the championship game of the Pink consolation, Lebanon beats Clever. Clever down 29-4 at one point, they stormed back and took the lead by four in the fourth, but blew that and lost by 5.

Glendale is back from quarantine but lost to Catholic

The white consolation is a tossup between Rogersville, Greenwood, Parkview and Buffalo

Lebanon isnt very god so i expected strafford to look good there. Skyline tough as usual wil be nice matchup with willard as they get after it. Thats 2 times this year central took wilard to ot. I was at that game and willard had a 15 point lead at one time

White Division Championship
C5#1 West Plains(11-0) vs C6#6 Nixa(9-1)

Pink Division Championship
C5 #3 Willard(10-0) vs C6#2 Kickapoo(10-2)

should be some good games to watch.
I could be a tad off on the records, but I think they’re correct.
