Reality hit Skyline as they lose to Lebanon. Very weak beginning to their schedule hasn't served them well. Their schedule gets a little tougher soon. Still heavy fav to win class 2 due to mediocre competition in their class. Kelsey Winfrey proved why she is so respected tonight. Took a lot of hard shots from Skyline kids and still outplayed everyone. Had to leave game momentarily after getting hit in the nose. Came back in and dominated. There's not a kid with a cooler demeanor than her. All that "hustle" and diving at players' knees doesnt always beat skill.

Speaking of reality setting in..... Rock ridge still class 5? Don't mistake dirty for hustle. I was at the skyline game and the rock bridge game and Winfrey is a good and alot of people would love to have a talented player like her. Knowing coach cheek and the AD at skyline I'm sure all Lebanon would have to do is make the call and I'm sure they could get a game next year. Skyline did not strike me as a team that was high on themselves and out of reality. They have Quality program year after year. Some years scheduling is outta your control and teams are just not as good as they was thus softening your schedule. Girls basketball just happens to be down this year in southwest mo. Best of luck to Winfrey as she continues her highschool and basketball career at Mizzou.

Dont get me wrong...Skyline is Skyline. Always top team in their class. Their kids DO hustle and Cheek is very good. My point was every team has habits and Skyline has a habit of coming out very scrappy almost ASKING for fouls to be called on them. Then, knowing the refs will swallow their whistles for awhile to keep the ignorant crowd happy, they foul even more and get steals knowing they wont be called for fouls until the other team picks up some fouls. Am I the only one who see this? Also, they DO dive into opponents knees instead of the ball. Its dirty know matter wher you are from. All teams do things to win, we all know that. Against Lebanon, however , the refs continued to make calls and it hurt them. Winfrey has flaws- cant finish left handed, but she is crafty and never quits. Instead of trying to steal EVERYTHING and block EVERY shot, maybe just stay in front of Winfrey......?They have control over their schedule. They knew what was coming back (everyone). My post was no disrespect-more a message to those who talk too much.

Agreed they foul alot. Don't agree it's dirty in any way. If the balls on the floor kids are taught to hit the floor.everyone tends to have a biased opinion depending on who their rooting foor. Every teams got there crazed fans just like leb had theirs in the games I watched. It's basketball . College basketball has crazed fans you just don't notice cause there's so many people. Maybe they are just passionate for their team. Winning does that to people kinda makes em arrogant. Take a team like Strafford who's getting all the love, their fans are gonna walk around with a bounce. I'm sure this post wouldn't have been made if leb loses by 5 except for the dirty part. It takes all kinds to make the world go round. Lebanon was just a matchup prob all around and matchups are everything in basketball. It was a good hard fought game from what I could see and I'd for one would watch those 2 go at it again.Thats right you have some control over scheduling but your assuming that they never tried to change it. They could of called and nobody would play. So many reasons schedules are this and that. Maybe leb will want to schedule them next year?
