Sources say he is worried he will lose his Koch Industries employee benefits.

If you think they are crazy, they must be right on the money.
Yeah, like those that are right on the money thinking that defunding Planned Parenthood has anything to do with stopping abortion? Abortion is 3% of what they do and not a dime of federal money is used for abortions at Planned Parenthood so cutting their federal funding will only stop the good stuff they do everyday for millions of people.

So, they do 3 million abortions and 97 million other things (hypothetical). If they stopped the 3% i'd agree to funding the other 97%. Sounds like a reasonable "compromise". Isn't that what you guys always want?

Why should they stop doing something that is totally legal?

The larger point is that the people that want to shut the government down over PP are hypocrites and morons.

NO! That's NOT reasonable! A reasonable compromise is the government paying for women's health, and not paying for the one thing that YOU don't like. That one thing has to be paid for by others, because YOU don't like it, even though it is deemed LEGAL by the SCOTUS.
An unreasonable compromise would be for you shove it, and the government pay for 100%. PP already compromised once for YOU and your ilk. NOW stop your whining.

I agree with miller. Let them have their obstructionist. We don't want Ryan.
Let them have a year of obstructionists and there will be a landslide in 2016. Gowdy for Speaker 2015.

Except that a lot of people's livelihoods (including mine) depend on the government functioning.

I get it cow. I am sorry for that. But a shut down, might wake them up a little.

Maybe from your perspective but not mine.
I have no desire to shut down the government. My goal is to shrink the government.
Not funding PP is the goal and should be legislated so. If Obama wants to shut the government down if it's not funded....he has that right.

How tollerant and accepting.
I suppose you too supported slavery since it was legal?

It's hypocritical because republicans espouse that they care about women, but they want to shut down the business that provides more women's health care than any other business.

It's moronic because it's not worth shutting down the federal government over a truly inconsequential amount of money.

How did shutting down the government work out last time for conservatives?

I care about women and babies not just one group.

Tell Obama that because he is threatening to do just that.

The Republicans got control of the Senate, a larger margin in the House, and everyone got paid still.

It's moronic to think the shutdown did not hurt the republicans. Even Boehner and co admitted that.

Why do we want Ryan? So we can cut SS and welfare to keep from having to tax the rich?
Count me out on Ryan. He is no hero.

Only a crazy person will be able to run the house and God help us all if they find someone crazy enough.

That is true. Unlike most he actually has a plan and understandable reasoning skills.
He will be able to think bigger picture politically and be reasonable. I want the country to see what would happen with these crazies in charge and maybe we can get most of them out of politics for good.

Abortion is even worse and I will never stop fighting to end it. The point is that something being legal doesn't make it right.

I agree with you Miller. Unregulated ownership of guns is legal but we all know it's not right and is killing thousands. We see eye to eye.

Exactly !!!! You stated the other day that since abortion was legal, it must be right.

Now , are you admitting maybe something that is legal is not right?

Unregulated firearms killing thousands every year is wrong and should be addressed,

Killing thousands through abortion every year is wrong and should be addressed.

Miller you still seem to forget the part about no federal money goes for abortions. Cutting out all federal funds for Planned Parenthood would be stopping the 97% of what they do for millions.

the congressional hearings were a dog and pony show for the base with the donors and leaders of the party having no real interest in shutting down the government to defund women's health programs.

Yeah, and the lottery money goes to the schools.
If planned Parenthood gets 90% of their funding from the government, it's easy to get the rest. Any money donated for any purpose gets spent on the abortion side. Any group that performs abortions doesn't need government funding especially if they show no respect in the process.

That assumes abortion is a money losing service for them. It's not clear from their public financials that this is the case

I have enough mental toughness to not let some message board shrimp like yourself get to me. Seriously, it's a message board.

Soft generation.

You must really be sweet on that Duck.
You keep bringing up him ignoring you.
If it wasn't bothering you, you wouldn't
even mention it. That's so precious.
