yet again, outduels AND beats the other team's best and more celebrated player and of course he has gotten zero respect for it. Not on the maxpreps all state team (Watts made it? Seriously?) and not on the News Leader's "favorite player in the Ozarks" list. He was the only offensive player to do anything against WC and outrushed Davis in the Joplin game and had that incredible throw to give them the chance to win. Few big qbs are nimble AND bruising like he is and is extremely accurate on his throws without a real wide receiver on the team.
Delaurent is the only other qb in Missouri who has been as impressive.
That's just the way it is.

As a Joplin fan, he definitely has my respect. He's run over them 2 years in a row. I wish he was a senior, lol. I haven't seen him throw enough to know how good of a passer he is. He really didn't need to throw much.
Delaurent was very impressive and I was also impressed with that kid from Lincoln. I haven't seen Watts play, but his stats are impressive. I'm surprised Tash from Joplin hasn't received more credit for what he did......Almost 2,800 yards passing, 31 TD's and only 3 int's. I hope he gets a good offer from somewhere.

Our kids aren’t from the Metro Area so they aren’t even “Talented Athletes” they are just redneck football players

It's in your post.....he rushed. They look for passing yards/Td's for the all-state team most of the time. A running QB can sneak an award in there every now and then. He is very dangerous though. Wouldn't mind seeing him at RB next year. Probably his true talent position.

All the players on the MaxPreps All-State team at the skill positions were on teams that actually utilize MaxPreps and upload their stats onto their platform (or the STL Post Dispatch stat system).

I'm no an advocate for MaxPreps, could care less about them and what they do, but it's pretty obvious what their policy is surrounding this issue if you scroll through their all-state team. Camdenton, Jackson, Glendale, Lincoln, Kirkwood the schools that had QBs on their all-state team, all utilize the MaxPreps platform and upload their stats. As far as I can tell, every skill player and defensive player on the MaxPreps all-state team either used their services or the Post stat program.

You can't really blame MaxPreps for not recognizing your favorite team or player if you don't use their services.

The MSHSAA TV guys called the Class 5 Champions the "Carlton Tigers" as PC punched it in from the 2 yd line for the OT win against Jackson. At first, I was like...what the???...but the more I thought about it I realized how fitting the announcer's slip actually was.

The Tigers won all season and eventually the championship because every player on the team bought in and executed their roles extremely well.

Maybe the player that exhibited that trait the most was Patrick Carlton. He grew into the best overall QB and leader I've seen on the field (and off from the great things I've heard) in a long time. And, he was sorrounded by selfless players that blocked their butts off for him and his skill players to maximize their talents and the coach's game plans.
