Saudi Arabia's largest cattle company leases land at $25 per acre from the US gov in drought stricken western Arizona to grow lush fields of alfalfa to ship to Saudi Arabia to feed Saudi cattle using unlimited water for irrigation from the depleted Rio Grande watershed, causing neighboring farmers wells to run dry. Saudi laws prohibit growing alfalfa in Saudi Arabia due to amount to water needed to grow alfalfa.

Only in America!!

Oh it's gonna get worse with the gazzillionaires buying up the farm land out there because they say they can make BILLIONs off the water rights and they ain't gonna farm a damn thang. Our top "make all the profit you can" guy on here has wished them well in that endeavor.

Update: Besides leasing land, the Saudis also bought land from the state of Arizona. The part of Arizona where the Saudi crops are located has unregulated water rights, hence they are free to use all the water they want while Americans living in populated cities and towns face water shortages and restrictions.

Only in America.

Earlier today I read that they have a bill in the Arizona congress to keep countries from buying up land there, but ironically Saudi Arabia isn't one of the countries they are stopping.
