Orrick Runningback sores 84 points in a single game to set new state record...

Orrick is hosting North Shelby Week 8. Likely THE measuring stick game of their regular season. That is indeed amazing!

Didn't about 20 years didn't Orrick have a running back set the state rushing record in a game? That was when they were 11 man. I want to say it was over 500 yards in one game!

Just sitting here thinking about what those Orrick teams from 06-08 would have done to those poor kids from northwest missouri if they were 8 man back then.

Nothing like some of the Valle and Penney teams from 2010-2016 would have done to those Orrick teams.

And nothing like the 1995 Valle team would have done to the above.

I was a lurker last year! Is the same guy there that come from somewhere around Columbia (Fayette maybe???)? Always thought he did a good job.
Jason Ollison was there when they scored all the points. 5 in 5 out every minute or :30 even. Kids loved it and they won games. He is now at LU as head softball coach I believe.

That's the name I remember! He did a bit of a modified version of the Arsenault/Grinnell system, right? I remember him being a softball coach as well. Had no idea he moved on.

Happened late in the summer. I think he coached around Sedalia area before Versailles job. Good guy.

Memory is fading but I think Judd's dad may have been an assistant coach on that team?
Could be true...there was GREAT talent on that historic 1966 Valle team for sure...but Head Coach Ralph Thomure was way ahead of his time in terms of coaching...just a great Coach in terms of practice planning, player development, scouting and game planning, and game strategy in terms play calling and play design. He was the MAN that really got Valle football going on the path towards dominance.

Kinda crazy they didn't win a state title until 1981.

81-83
88-95 big run.
2009-2019

P.S. Yes I know they didn't have 'state titles' in 1966. Would've been interesting to see how they stacked up against non-SEMO teams.

1966 I think that was also the year of Dewey Combs' undefeated Trenton team, prior to him taking the job at Joplin.

Thomure was probably the longest tenured coach at his time. In 1960 he took a leave of absence from his job at McDonnell and never returned. He took over from Meiborg who left the cupboard bare. Meiborg inherited a team from Calacci who won (or tied?) the Catholic Athletic Conference in 1957.

Austin Jones had 522 yards against Windsor in 2003.
Yeah. I coached against him. What was the coaches name? I think pat richards. He basically got that record vs the deaf dumb and blind. The week before a kid. I tjink from Jackson broke it against legit competion. Richards always ran the score up.

No 's', it was Pat Richard, son of HOF coach Charlie Richard at Baker U. Charlie began his career at Moberly HS. Pat is now at Oak Grove.
I thought they had run up the score in Austin's game, but was not sure.
