8.? Concordia? (8-4 in 2009)

The Orioles return a veteran lineup from their 8-4
playoff team giving head coach John Cox and Concordia fans reason for
optimism. "We have most of our skill kids returning, but lost some very
good lineman", commented Cox.

Senior quarterback Kent Schuette
returns as does a trio of running backs and talented senior fullback
Zach Wolski. Senior RB/DB Alic Frerking,
junior DB/RB Collin Werths, and junior DB/RB Luke Kapala each give the
Orioles plenty of offensive weapons in their flexbone attack.

The Orioles employ a 4-4 defensive scheme and Cox
reports they will return eight defensive starters as well. Senior
Austin McGinnis and junior Jamie Thieman return on the defensive line
along with senior linebacker Carter Brown. Schuette is a key
member of the defense at his linebacker position as well. Kapala
is a solid defensive back along with his fellow running backs who go
both ways.

Concordia must contend with Wellington and Orrick two
of the top teams in Class 1 as they battle for I-70 bragging rights, but
the competition will only prepare them for the post season.

"If we can replace our losses on the line we should
have a chance to be successful", added Cox.

The Orioles will be successful just how deep into the
playoffs they fly is yet to be seen!
