Carte'are Gordon 6'8" will no longer be a roster player @ Vianney starting immediately. I can not give specifics concerning reasons for Carte'are Gordon no longer wearing the Vianney Uniform but I will say he most likely will surface @ a " Prep High School " very soon.

Who knows Vianney could be a better team without the distractions that Carte'are Gordon brings to the team.

Doubtful.

Are the high school coaches, AAU coaches, Prep schools coaches, recruiting services, college coaches and parents doing it wrong by placing a few 6th, 7th and 8th graders on a pedestal. Some outstanding freshmen are replacing seniors on there high school who have been with program for 4 years. * Is this fair? ) Some of the advanced freshmen are not mature enough to handle the hype therefore become a problem for the coaches. Prep and AAU coaches have these young athletes's cell phone number. Some of these coaches are trying to get these kids to attend a prep school and play for a different AAU team then the year before. Yes, some parents believe the stories these adults are telling their kids and some will go along with the hype even if it's not @ the best interest of their kids. ( Some folks believe the best interest of a kid is to be a kid )
Rumors has C. Gordon enrolling @ a prep school ( Sunrise Academy ) in Kansas @ the advice of an AAU team in Kansas City if he is unhappy @ Vianney.

Can we comment on the above?

Prep schools may the ruination of HS basketball and should be closely scrutinized by all. Big time AAU ball is just about as bad.

3Rfan, it's gonna get worse. I know of one kid who is getting the hype from big college teams but are now putting the " I'm not interested signs out there ". 13, 14 and 15 years old can not handle this kind of pressure. These college offers to freshmen and 8th graders are not binding and worthless.

C. Gordon is only 15 years old and one of the youngest players in his class.

Mercy..... .. . I recently overheard a mother ranting about her 15 year old son not getting enough playing time.
And if things don't change soon, I'm moving him to Columbia as he has several Divn 1 schools after him already...!

LOL........... C ;-)(~

I agree that AAU and Prep Schools are killing high school basketball. High School Basketball is becoming an individual players game instead of a team game in a lot of places. Most freshman aren't mature enough to play varsity basketball let alone have college offers. Let kids be kids and grow up slowly. High school basketball should be about which schools can develop the best teams instead of 4 or 5 players from an AAU team "just happening to show up at the same school" It is interesting to me that the roster of the Vashon team looks very similar to the roster at Madison Prep from last year. How does that happen? Is Vashon a private school?

Players from all over St. Louis City can enroll @ Vashon if they have room or opening. The principal @ Vashon likes basketball and Tony Irons therefore I don't see any problem of enrollment @ Vashon.if the desire is there.

CBC runs a bus to the city of St. Louis each school day to provide transportation to the CBC campus. There are lots of competition for the athletes in St. Louis and Tony Irons and the Vashon Woverines are right in the middle of it. It's kind of like the old day when Floyd Irons had great teams, but now it's legal.

High school basketball in Missouri appears to be getting very interesting and the MSHSAA can't do anything about it.

The fact that kids in STL can enroll in any school is quite an unfair competitive advantage. If you don't see that, then, well, wow.

Rocket, The student athletes in St. Louis city can only enroll @ Vashon if they have available space. Not all city schools can enroll students from out of their assigned area. Privates high schools can enroll students from a certain amount of miles from their campus but must pay tuition. Cape Notre Dame has a similar situation down there in Southeast Missouri.

Rocket, in your opinion, if students from Malden enrolled in districts outside the Malden ( Without moving ) school district, is that unfair competition ?

Agreed. Sikeston, Malden, Cape Central, Jackson, and ALL the other public schools in Missouri have to form a team from the students that live in the district. That's what MSHSAA says.... For "St. Louis schools" to be allowed to accept anyone as long as there is "room" is ludicrous. Oh well, no reason to cry now. I'll take our chances with our squad.

Rockets, We have open enrollment in other school districts in Missouri. Could someone help Rocket out on what schools have open enrollment in Missouri? How about Springfield, Kansas City and maybe Columbia.

Rocket, are you driving to " Friendly St. Charles County " for the Zumwalt North tournament this week? Zumwalt North, Troy and Ritenour had big upset wins this past weekend which could be a momentum builder when playing teams like the undefeated and #1 ranked class 4 in Missouri, the Sikeston Bulldogs 13-0.
Troy 7-8 defeated Francis Howell 12-4--(64-62)

Zumwalt North 9-8 defeated Zum. South 14-3 ( 67-66 ) -Zum North plays a tougher schedule then Zum South

Ritenour 9-4 defeated Kirkwood 11-5 ( 75-57 )

Rocket, I believe Sikeston's strongest competition will be Zum North or Ritenour in the finals.
