The Crossroads Conference has both missouri and kansas schools. It's Bishop Ward in KS, plus Summit Christian, VanHorn and UA.Are there any leagues with schools in different states now?
Well there was a time when Carthage WC Neosho Mac County and Nevada use to be in the same Conference as the old Big 8 schools Monett MV Seneca Aurora EN Lamar Cassville and CJ. When they first split one became the Big 8 the other the Big 6, then when Joplin Memorial and Parkwood combined they changed from the big 6 to the SWC. Back in those days those bigger schools were about even with the smaller schools. The current COC is full of schools that rapidly outgrew previous conference affiliations.
Nixa was class 3 not all that long ago and now I believe it's second largest only behind Joplin in this corner of the state. All those schools around the periphery of Springfield have exploded - like most suburban areas in the US.
Carthage, WC, Neosho used to be in a conference with McDonald County and Nevada. There was a time when that alliance suddenly made zero sense at least for football, although MC and Nevada do seem to have grown a bit and closed the gap somewhat.
CJ has grown and now conferences with their larger neighbors which includes Joplin, something that would have seemed absurd not all that long ago. Prior to the COC they were in the Big 8. At the time they left they were the largest school in that league, now they are the smallest in the COC.
In the 90s and before the idea that CJ would play Joplin was not heard of much. The size difference was too much. The current COC is full of schools that rapidly outgrew previous conference affiliations.

West Plains is just in the strangest of situations. Who is their major rival in the Ozark conference? Them being in the SCA is satisfying geographically, but obviously not logical given their sizeThe SCA had everything from class 1 Thayer to class 5 West Plains. The PVC use to be a 6 man conference.
Pittsburg Kansas is in the same spot in terms of joining a conferenceWest Plains is just in the strangest of situations. Who is their major rival in the Ozark conference? Them being in the SCA is satisfying geographically, but obviously not logical given their size
