Well this is the week! HUGE MRVC West rivalry game this week, historic too. So here are the numbers:

Odessa- 4-0 180 points scored, 26 points allowed
Won week 1 against St. Pius X KC 33-14
Won week 2 against Clinton 42-12
Won week 3 against Carrollton 65-0
Won week 4 against Holden 40-0
Combined opponents record 4-12
Oak Grove- 4-0 182 points scored, 46 points allowed
Won week 1 against Holden 55-0
Won week 2 against O'Hara 21-16
Won week 3 against Lincoln College Prep 50-14
Won week 4 against Warrensburg 56-16
Combined opponents record 7-9

I will always pick Odessa to win this game, just wanna get that out there. A closer look paints a darker picture. Oak Grove has played tougher teams and has put those teams away. Both teams have not let inferior teams "hang around" so that's a good sign for both teams. Their only common opponent is Holden, and both teams shut them out and scored a fair amount of points. The game is at Oak Grove. Last year, Odessa lost 34-21 to the eventual Class 3 state champs, Oak Grove. This game is normally packed and full emotion. There have been upsets, blow outs, and close games in the history of this game. I say Odessa 29 Oak Grove 28, in a nail biter. Thoughts?

I honestly see this game being close. Oak Grove graduated some players and Odessa returned a lot of their skill players. Being an MRVC fan my whole life, I absolutely love this game. The rivalry is old, heated, and draws a big crowd. Odessa 35 Oak Grove 28

Oh, Odessa had a few down years, but have recently turned things around. Last year wasn't a total blow out and losing by 13 to the Class 3 state champs isn't all that bad.

Odessa lost some key people on the line from last year, and that is where it counts against OG. If OG can defend the pass, they will win by 2-3 td's if not it could get interesting.
