Odessa game?

(Heavy sigh) My bulldogs have found a way to win pretty much all year, except today. Still proud of em! Way to return Odessa to what we uses to be!

Championship game was last week and the better team was not playing this week. And yes, I have enough sour grapes to make a barrel of the finest wine (or, whine if you prefer).
It's one thing to say that a game was close; it's another thing entirely to say that the better team LOST (that usually implies extenuating citcumstances, and had not previously heard of any...)
Care to explain?

Definitely disagree. Odessa is a good team, and Burroughs is clearly better and more athletic. Watched Odessa HANDLE a very good (not great) Maryville team. They are good. Saw Seneca that one year in the semis and finals. Not impressed. At all.
JB is a very good football team. I just thought we were better. Send me an email to kweith@ameren.com and I'll explain why.
Odessa just did not matchup well with JB strengths. Their team speed and they keyed on your run game with 8, 9, sometimes more in the box to stop the run.
You're making it sound like I'm saying that that Seneca team was not a good team; I did not say that nor do I think that (unlike you, I thought Seneca's 31-7 win that year over an undefeated JB team in the semis was incredibly impressive...)
...not am I even really comparing those two teams (this year's Odessa squad and that year's Seneca squad...)
...I'm simply saying their championship games went about the same way.
I'm curious enough to know how the team that beat BO by two TD's and then went on to win the state title in convincing fashion was not the better team that I went ahead and emailed you (even though I don't know why you can't just share it hear...)
Just want to congratulate Odessa on a great season. Didn't end like they wanted, but there's 62 other teams in their class that would have loved to be in their shoes, win or lose.

JBS-BO game was closer than final score. JBS dodged a bullet. BO put up three scores in 4th Q. And didn't score on a first-and-goal in the 3rd quarter.
Not sure I agree with kdubya44's claim that BO was better, though.
JBS made enough big plays to defeat a very good BO team. Goal line stand in the 3rd quarter. Great interception in first half ended a BO drive (btw, a shoestring tackle prevented a pick-6 on same play). KO return for TD turned one-score lead into two-score lead after BO scored. And several big runs early to build the lead. And late in the game, after BO had scored its third TD and cut the deficit again to one score, BO flubbed the onside kick but still had time to stop JBS and then drive for the win. Instead, JBS marched 50 yards when the game was on the line and put the game away.
