Odessa 24, Oak Grove 10 Final

Obviously Oak Grove unless it is at Odessa then it ends in a tie 😂

[2023] Oak Grove (MO) 38 (58%), [2023] Odessa (MO) 35 (42%)

What a matchup if i wasnt going to be in platte county tonight i would be here. Im going with OG on a hunch
Platte County has back to back top end home games tonight and next Friday (if I don't go to Joplin will definitely ride over to PC) hosting Grain Valley and Oak Park.

Side note on that game tonight it is live on Spectrum Sports KC (Channel 30).

My heart says Odessa but my mind says Oak Grove. Thats purely based on opponents played. But it's a huge rivalry game. So strange things can happen and teams are energized. Should be a good game regardless

This is all Odessa 17 0 and counting. Physically superior both sides so far and I see no evidence it will change.

Exited at half. First time since I can remember the only available "seat" 30 minutes pre game was on concrete one row below the actual seating but that one is on me knew this would be a packed stadium both sides.

Odessa likely could have won this by lots more but Coach Thomas said it all in his prepskc postgame interview "we will likely see them again" ergo the scoreless second half.

From my perspective the QBs both sides are the team stars. Odessa's is dual threat had several stellar running plays one in particular going the distance. OG's has a nice, accurate arm (something the Panthers need to utilize more moving forward in my opinion) and reads D very well but the key to this one, like most top end games, was on both LINES. Odessa had a noticeable edge both ways.

Long term takeaway is I would LOVE to see Odessa and either Maryville or St. Pius X face off this November. Saw nothing telling me (could nitpick about those false starts but Thomas et al will fix that guaranteed) these Bulldogs cannot make a nice, deep C3 run yet again..............

I was wondering if he was still running the same stuff that won him the state titles at Orrick or if he had changed it up any.

Honestly it looks the same to me but Orrick was a long time ago so my memory may not be correct. One and only time in the first half they threw deep it worked.
