Things seemed to flow smoothly at JFK Stadium (except someone dropped the ball and failed to hoist the flag for the national anthem).

Was very impressed with the speed of Parkview's skill players, and the precision of Bolivar's passing offense.

Cassville took a while to get going. but played better as the evening progressed. Willard's line played solid throughout the night.

Willard looked good offensively but will need to work on defense to compete in large. Derryberry will pick them apart. Of course yeargan can literally carry that team to wins he's pretty special. Bolivar looked like a good team too but don't matter since they're in class 4. Parkview not looking good for them.

Willard will be an interesting group to watch this year. They could be really good if things come together. The line lost a ton of size but what they have isnt small by any means. I was surprised how well the line was pushing people around up front. They moved the ball well on offense all night. Scored 3 times, gave up 2 scores on defense. Looked nervous against Cassville, struggled with Bolivar early but then came on strong, and then pushed Parkview around pretty good. If they can stop people, they could be really good. If not, could see some shootout type games reminiscent of the district final vs Carthage last season.

Cassville looked small to me, but as a Class 3 school I simply dont know how their size compares to average. Maybe someone could enlighten me. They scored on Willard their first possession and moved it well. Did some nice things on both sides of the ball, though they have trouble matching up with Willard physicality at times. I did not see them the rest of the night because I was focused on Willard so not sure how they finished up.

It was fun to add Bolivar to this jamboree, as we finally got to see Roweton vs. Roweton. I am told the two teams will be playing in regular season soon. Bolivar looked really good. They will gash people through the air this year. Sechler is very good and he has weapon big time! They tied 1 score a piece against Willard in a battle of contrasting styles.

Parkview looked very poor against Willard. However, you cant necesarily count that as a sign that they will have a bad season. They have a good back in Riley and some good speed elsewhere as well. Willard pretty much had their way with them on both sides of the ball though. We'll see what kind of year they put together.

OZONE came out with the 15 best backs in the Ozarks....

And the kid from Lockwood was #1 on the list. The #2 back was Brandt from Nevada, Burroughs from Webb was #3. Last on the list at #15 is Hunter Yeargan, even though he had the most rushing yards out of anyone on the list. They said the Nevada player was "Yeargan but with more speed". HA! I know I am biased but there sure aren't 14 backs in the Ozarks that I would rather have ahead of Yeargan.

Maybe the writer intended for the list to not be in any particular order, but if that's the case he shouldnt have numbered them. And he shouldnt have called the #1 player on the list the best in the area. I love the coverage that O-Zone gives to all the games but some stuff leaves me scratching my head.

The Ozone list was in alphabetical order.

Thanks for pointing that out. I must have missed that completely. I saw some bashing of it on twitter, the writing basically called the Bouldin kid from Lockwood (1st on the list) the #1 back in the Ozarks so I read it as it was a numerical ranking. Thanks again.
