Big picture, If Kiffin wasn't the new coach at FAU, if he'd handed the ball to Scarborough the whole game he'd probably be coaching in the NC game. Saban evidently agrees with this and it's hard to argue such an obvious thing watching the game unfold. However, IMO this can be said of just about every O.C. from pee wee ball to the Pros. If Saban wanted him to run it, he should've told him.
For my comfort, Saban is to painfully and visibly agitated on the sideline when the kid's screw up. It's irritating to have any offense that commits silly offensive fouls but he constantly is pointing directly to his coordinators as the source of the confusion, and that he is somehow not the problem.
I don't mind getting yelled at for screwing up, but a delay penalty or substitution issue need to be addressed differently for the sake of it's not all about you Nick.
At the end of the day, this is the head coaches prerogative to deal out criticism, but considering that he'll act so harshly in front of a national audience, imagine what it's really like to work for him on a daily basis?
Business or not, CEO or not, kind of kills the fun of winning. His team is arguably stacked with the best personnel in the country, and if he wanted to, he could run the Single Wing and win 10 games.
On the other hand, Kirby Smart and Tom Herman were able to make it to the end of the season before moving on. Kiffin proved that he's still incapable of leaving a job without a massive amount of drama.
To state that Kiffin's "moving on" is something other than getting fired is ridiculous. This kind of thing happens all the time, but I find it telling that Nick Saban is willing to risk the distraction at this late of date. He must have been working on replacing him a long time ago. I bet Steve S. was a pain in Kiffin's side all year. Kiffin should count himself lucky to get the heck out of there, and he probably was sick of BS well before he interviewed for the FAU job.
