(CNN)US Capitol Police have concluded after reviewing security footage that "there is no evidence" GOP Rep. Barry Loudermilk led a reconnaissance tour with Trump supporters trying to learn more about the Capitol complex the day before the deadly January 6 insurrection.
The House select committee investigating January 6, 2021, raised the issue publicly in a letter last month asking Loudermilk to explain the purpose of his January 5 meeting with a group of constituents. Days after the attack, some Democrats began accusing Republicans of providing tours to individuals who later went on to storm the Capitol.
"There is no evidence that Representative Loudermilk entered the U.S. Capitol with this group on January 5, 2021," Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger wrote in a letter on Monday to Rep. Rodney Davis, the top Republican on the House Administration Committee. "We train our officers on being alert for people conducting surveillance or reconnaissance, and we do not consider any of the activities we observed as suspicious."
The Capitol Police review was done at the urging of Davis. The police review of security video from January 5, 2021, comes after the House select committee raised concerns about Loudermilk hosting visitors in his office that day and requested that he voluntarily answer

CNN is wrong. Is there a difference between a rep leading a tour and him having one of his staff lead a tour? Hell no.
No I haven’t been watching anything to do with it. I get all the coverage and play by play from the legendary Toots McDuck.
It is pretty hard to watch the crap they did that day. And when Trump tweeted about Pence refusing to do what he wanted him to do on his phone call about 1 o'clock that day they really got it going.
The issue was it planned by Trump and a Cabal to take over the country.....some fringe groups having idea's to stage some massive protest is another subject. But in reality even they where not interested in a full on coup because you don't overthrow a republic without violence and arms. It didn't take long for the NG to clear the capital so in reality the overthrow or stopping of the certification was a poorly planned grandstanding event from the Proud Boys and other nutters. To try and connect dot's that Trump was pulling strings to retain power is ludicrous.
If you want to make the argument that Trump wanted the Election to be uncertified and that he hated Pence for doing his duty that is a totally different debate. But to make the case that Trump and His cronies planned and organized a Coup to stop Biden from taking office isn't credible.
