Could be the biggest week of the year with 4 against the Cubs and Pirates coming before the All Star break. Our offense has to pick up or the division could have a much different look. You figure Lackey on the road we lose because he gives up runs on the road. Tuesday the 2 rookies are going so hopefully we get a split, then our studs throw and hopefully we can win some 1-0 and 2-1 games Go Birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lynn has more hits in July than some of our regulars. Grichuk is on the brink of being sent down. Carp can only pop up to left. Scruggs is not a major league hitter. You are right about Lackey. And we have two minor leaguers pitching a double header. We should get thrashed in this series. And yet if I was betting the house, I wouldn't bet on Chicago.
Didn't they just lose to Cleveland, a team you were talking very badly about when we played them? If you would have told me in April we'd have this kind of record and this kind of lead in the division on the 5th of July I would have said you were crazy. Don't know what's gonna happen down the road but this team has been amazing and they've done it in a variety of ways. Maybe Holliday will come back and bang the ball around a little. If they're about send Grichuk down they should have sent Bourjos packin about 2 months ago.
The Cubs split two games with Cleveland beating them the first game 17-0. Not sure what your point is. The cubs were swept by the cards last week after losing a pair to LA. Then they swept the Mets and won 2 of 3 vs Miami.
These games are crucial to Chicago. Maybe Lackey can pitch a great game vs his old buddy Lester tonight.
