Norfork(AR) 56 - West Plains 39 (FINAL)

34-20 Norfork at half.

Lady Zizzers falling behind early and forcing shots and having no pass or one pass possessions that end in low percentage shots.

It was pretty even from what I seen from the last 6 min of the 2nd Q so I’m guessing the first quarter was a blood bath.

56-39 Norfork final.

Norfork improves to 19-5
West Plains drops to 12-6

After going 9-0 in the Nixa tournament all-time these last 3 years, WP goes 0-3 this year.
I will say, even with less teams, this is the most stacked it has been in awhile.

They’ve got a lot of work to do both defensively and offensively.

Offensive rebounding and perimeter defense and sense of urgency continue to be a problem.

Correction: West Plains is 11-7

Losses to Class 6 ranked opponents: Nixa(twice), Republic, Park Hill South, and Rock Bridge
Class 5 Marshfield(who they’ve also beaten)
And Class 1 #2 Norfork(AR)

Remaining games:
1/23 @ Class 6 UR Springfield Central (1-9)
1/26 Class 4 UR Logan-Rogersville (8-9)
1/30 Class 6 UR Lebanon (8-5)
2/2 @ Class 6 #12 Springfield Kickapoo (12-4)
2/6 Class 6 UR Waynesville (7-8)
2/9 @ Class 5 UR Springfield Parkview (8-10)
2/13 Class 5 #6 Rolla (12-3)
2/20 @ Class 5 #14 Bolivar (14-4)

All of those games are winnable for WP.

Not saying I expect them to win all of them, but they could/should.

Thoughts AC or Tad? Anyone

I expect them to go 6-2 in their final 8 games. Be the 2/3 seed in districts. A solid year. They are capable of more, but I just dont think this is their year. They have too many deficiencies to win a district title.

But with all that said they have a good coach and a lot of experience. So roll the ball out and see what happens.

My prediction is 7-1 in the final 8. Very possible they go 6-2 though.
They aren’t playing at the same pace as they had been the first half of the season, don’t get me wrong, the competition the last month or so has definitely been way better recently, but I just feel like they come out in their fast break, and hustling up and down in transition and then for some reason they just back off and slow it down, and then effectively lose all of their momentum.
Transition is their strength in my opinion.
Don’t have near as much length as most of the top tier teams they’ve played this year so slowing it down isn’t the answer when you get 5-6 pts ahead.

Your observations are true, but that is just the style of play that Womack wants. That is how West Plains teams have been for years. And hard to argue with the results. Womack is a great coach and knows way more about basketball than probably all of us here. But if there is a valid criticism of his coaching it is their style of play does limit them at times.
