THE OZARKS
West Nodaway/Nodaway-Holt co-op for 8 man

They have 36 players on the roster and in their team photo.

I sure hope this doesn’t become commonplace for 8 man. Both of these schools have been 8 man since it’s inception if I’m not mistaken but come on now

I've said it before. Cant win in 11 man football? Drop to 8 man! Now I'll add this. Dont wanna lose in 11 man? Just stay in 8 man!

I have seen programs go from 30+ players in one year to less than 20 in another year. That is why enrollment should be used. You can’t have number of players deciding whether a team SHOULD be 8-man. Moving up and down based on number of players would be a disaster. It would be a problem not only for that program, but also for every team they scheduled with. And then trying to schedule games in the future would be a nightmare. So it’s time to stop complaining about number of players on an 8-man roster.

Unless you are an old man who just likes to yell at clouds because that is just as useful.

I wonder if your tune would have been the same 15 years ago when the whole GRC was still 11 man. Back when the GRC was relevant.

No it goes to common sense. In 1998 Mt View Liberty had 17 kids on its roster. Back then West Plains was in the SCA. So 17 kids out should have gone 8 man that year. Or better, when I was at a small school there were 10 kids in a class. 9 were girls one was a boy. Boy didn't play sports. That class supplied no one to football. Real small schools can swing quickly on numbers.

Stop applying common sense.

I feel attacked.

I imagine 8-man teams are still relevant to their fading communities and conferences… just as the 200+ 6-man teams in Texas are helping the Lone Star remain a football state. Right now, Missouri teeters between being a football, fall baseball, or el futbol state. And yes, realistically, we are far from being known for any sort of football except for the imports playing on the current Chiefs.

well we are known for the Doc Guys.

Of that I am sure.

Saw an article the other day and the headline made me laugh.

It referenced Nodaway Valley being “short handed” in week 1 LOL.

If you’re in 8 man and have enough players for varsity and JV to both have seperate scrimmages at the same time, you’re not short handed lol
