No talk of collusion on here?

Not the political kind, the baseball kind. Last year when a bunch of pretty good free agents went unsigned this along there was talk of owner's collusion. Two years in a row, this time with some really big names on the market, and it's happening again. I say there IS collusion among the owners and I don't blame them. The huge money long term deals just haven't worked out very well most of the time. They will pay the big bucks but not for a 10 year deal like some have in the past.

Huge money deals dont work out.....

When you're giving them to 32 year old Pujols & Miggy. Trout is making $34M per year and is easily worth more. Harper is easily worth a big contract. Machado.....he cut his own throat

What headaches come with Harper
You’ve never observed flashes of his attitude? I could learn to like him if he’d keep his mouth shut, attitude in check and do his job. Odds of that happening?

Do you like Molina?
I don’t like him jogging to 1B on a ground ball, but I don’t see Yadi fighting in the dugout with the team’s closer. Two different guys, Yadi and Harper. You’ll have to try real hard to convince otherwise.

You do realize that Pap is about as well liked as John Rocker..... Right? That should tell you something right there

Papelbon. The closer in the story
Oh, duh. Brain cramp.
Like I said, if Harper were to become a Cardinal I could probably learn to like him. But he’d have to earn it from me. I’m sure that would cause him many a sleepless nights, lol.

As bad as it is for the game to see this stuff stretch out longer and longer (another strike is coming)

I'm hoping this gives the Cubs a chance to slide in with a short term deal, high AAV. Maybe 3\100 or 2\65-70

I didn't say they won't pay for huge contract money, but apparently no one is offering the long term deal, it just hasn't worked for them. I'm sure someone will jump in with a crazy offer but it may not be for as many years as he wants.

Owners are making tons of money, even the losers. If you're not going to pay for talent, then at least lower ticket prices and especially beer prices.

Once again, I think they are more than happy to pay top free agents a LOT of per year, just not for the long contracts they desire. How many fans would be happy with their prize free agent in years 5 or 6 through 10?

I just want cheaper beer. I get most of my tickets free so that's not a problem, but $9 for a beer really hits my wallet!!!

I don't go very often, well that's an understatement I guess, but the price of beer is not something that affects me. I guess no more than I go the price of tickets doesn't affect me much either but then there the price of a room and that shopping thang that has to go with it. :p

If you like Yadi in the lineup as much as he is, be ok with the jogging. It was the same with Pujols. I'd rather see Yadi in the lineup 150 games and jogging out the occasional groundball, than seeing whatever fat immobile sloth they sign to be his backup. The same was true of Pujols over Mabry or whatever stiff they rolled out there when The Mang sat. It's a bad look, but the juice is worth the squeeze if you ask me.

I understand the jogging. Just don’t like the optics for young players.
