No more Lou Holtz on ESPN

Never thought Lou was the greatest commentator but I think we can all agree that he has forgotten more about football than most of us will ever know. I recall listening to him talk about the veer nearly 4 decades ago at the St. Louis coaching clinics. Most of his points are still applicable today. Good clinic speaker and great coach.

I saw him speak in STL. If you sat on the front row it was like being at a Gallager comedy show, you better have rain coats or plastic or you will get drenched..... I agree that he has forgotten a lot.

Lou's career was catapulted by Arkansas' huge upset over OU.
There is an interesting story behind how the Razorbacks knew the
specifics of the OU gameplan prior to the game, according to rumor....

If Lou was as big a legend as he thinks he is, that would be something.

Coming from you, your assessment of Coach Holtz mean nothing. His career was catapulted by an outstanding job at the U of A. aslo winning a NC at ND could be considered a catapult and bring SC back to respectability before turning over the reins to Old Ball Coach. (I coached kids that played for Coach Holtz and they have the upmost respect for him.)

Coming from you, your biased opinion isn't worth the spit you excreted saying it.

Lou got the ND job in large part because he became huge after that monumental OU upset.
He then got the ESPN job because he had been the ND coach. For some reason ESPN thinks
that makes you an announcer. He also failed miserably with the Jets.

And it doesn't change the fact that he was one arrogant, annoying sack on ESPN and as
someone who enjoys watching college football I hope I never hear his lisp or his nonsense again.
And pretty much every one of my football watching associates feels the same way. And they don't
agree with me on much.

i enjoyed lou as a announcer, i also think he is a pretty good coach, he has done well where he has been except for the jets, and that isn't saying anything, i think the ol ball coach didn't fare well with his pro stint, sometimes things are not right for a coach to be successful at a place, many coaches have been fired from places where the fit wasn't right but did well other places, i think we all know of people that has happened too,

Mr. Holtz left five different programs just before they were hit with probation for violations that occurred under his watch.

NC State, Arkansas, Minnesota, ND, and South Carolina. His good ole boy act is exactly that.

Never met a good coach that didn't have a big ego. I like Holtz. Some don't and that's fine. To each his own.

Met him when he spoke on Branson last year. Say what you will about him as a commentator but hard to discount what he did as a coach.

You are right. Five different schools on probation is indisputable.
You can't argue with what he did as a coach. Lets be truthful.

I enjoyed his books for the most part but his over the top fawning over the tarnished dome was disgusting. ND is a has been. He likely cheated at each stop but he did give some good insights in his writings.

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but putting five schools on probation is a world record and he is the Teflon coach who is still looked upon as some good old boy. There are mosports regulars who rip on college coaches for every little mistake and this guy just skates.

You should just keep an eye on the Cardinals board all season.
