Man, there are a bunch of schools that could take a lesson from the Nixa athletics media machine. They do a great job. A lot of support from above, pride, and hard work goes into their product. Just a great way to represent and promote your school and community.
A lot of other schools have the ability to fund what Nixa is funding. They just seem to care a bit more about doing it. Most businesses in a community would jump at the chance to advertise on these types of productions. Other schools have the money, and they’d like the same type of product, but don’t want to support it or supply the effort. There are plenty of places, that if given a pile of cash, wouldn’t (notice, not couldn’t) do what Nixa is doing. Don’t insinuate money is what makes all of this happen. What Nixa also has is $$$
Same. Make no mistake, money makes it all easier. It’s just a lot of places aren’t willing to put forth the effort. Which is somewhat of a shame. You could have an entire employee (teacher) and a couple classes dedicated to the productions of all these events. Hell, given the revenue possibilities, you could make a case for student paid positions (and teacher stipends) to staff it all. But it takes a model. And work. And for whatever reason, most places seem unwilling to jump on board. A ton of the equipment could be purchased with grant and 50/50 money as well. I’m sure those that do it right (Nixa obviously one) would be more than willing to share their model. It’s certainly one to be proud of.I will say that I see many high school productions with no advertising.
YouTube channel and a Hudl account is about all it takes. If you’ve got a Focus camera it’s literally three clicks. Just lazy at that point.Heck Lebanon doesn't even stream the championship game of their girls tournament that their own team is in. Not even a camera without announcers.
During an interview, I pitched development of this. A marketing class, better yet; sports and entertainment marketing. Students selling and making the advertisements/commercials, being broadcasters. Public speaking, journalism classes, social media may its own. Game related information, schedule updates, results get released, published, uploaded and posted. Yes, students get a percentage of the revenue they collect. Grant money is definitely available.Same. Make no mistake, money makes it all easier.
