I'd say yes, but some schools would have a legitimate argument against it. As it stands right now, if there were two classifications for all private & non-boundaried public schools (big/small), Springfield Catholic would be in the same bracket as CBC, Rockhurst, and Vianney. There aren't enough large private schools in Missouri to do this.
I think it would be interesting, but unrealistic if private schools from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois could form their own private school leagues. This would fix the issue of there not being enough larger private schools.
Something has got to be done about these schools, though. Specifically, the small private schools (i.e. Tolton Basketball, Trinity Football) that have laughably large talent disparities between themselves and the opponents they face. This is only going to get much, much worse in the coming years. Lutheran St. Charles has freshmen and sophomores right now that are being offered by the likes of Alabama, LSU, and Nebraska.

There needs to be at least a 2.0 multiplier for all private schools, not just single-sex schools. I did my homework, and it really wouldn't be the worst thing for athletics. It would simply move these schools up roughly one class, which wouldn't be much of an adjustment for the majority of these schools. Most of these schools play teams one class higher on their schedules anyways. Think of these examples:
- Helias to Class 5
- Valle to Class 2
- Ritter, Lutheran, and Trinity to Class 4 (Trinity vs. Ladue/Webb anyone?)
I agree with you as in the smaller schools such as Ritter, Lutheran North, Trinity, and yes Lutheran could all get worse. Lutheran has some freak players on their team that are all underclassman. Of course there is good and bad to everything in life so I’m very curious what others have to think on here with this idea.
I’m getting whiplash watching you switch gears between “scholarship offers don’t mean anything” and “their kids have offers, so they have an unfair advantage”.
Anyway, it seems a lot of folks don’t have any practical understanding of how high school kids are recruited by college coaches and that the classification a kid’s high school is in doesn’t determine the level of talent/size/speed/ability anymore. I’m not convinced it EVER did, tbh.
Some high school coaches simply don’t have the desire to help their kids play in college. They won’t sabotage them, but they won’t put extraordinary effort into camps, visits, correspondence with colleges and such. Then there’s parents that don’t know the process and think colleges will just find kids on their own “if they’re good enough” ... which is simply untrue.
Trinity gets way more penalties than a high school team should. Their offensive scheme is one that puts supremely fast and talented kids in space/position to create mismatches ... but it is NOT a well coached team. Better than last year, but not where they should be. They have more talented and highly recruited kids in their program that any other in the state.
They are a destination for every college coach visiting the metro area, along with Lutheran North and several others. Underclassmen are benefiting from being on film with heavily recruited upperclassmen. They travel a minimum of 2-3 times a month to camps, combines and showcases during the off-season. There isn’t a JFL kid in the area with dreams of playing collegiate football that isn’t visiting Lutheran North and Trinity and they can pull from any kid within 25 miles of their campuses.

You just explained why Trinity has so many haters. Not that they won state. They are starting out with an advantage. They are loaded. Same reason so many people hate the Yankees and the Patriots.
Hate and jealousy are useless emotions. Try directing it at MSHSAA or, better yet, the AD at your favorite public high school. EVERY private school in Missouri has the same advantages that Trinity does. Your hate goes beyond the rules, because I don’t see you bitching about Valle’s dominance in Class 1, or JBS’ decades long rule in Class 2 and 3, or MICDS’ in Class 3 and 4. Maybe it’s the scholarship offers that piss you off? Because Trinity has sucked for a long time before winning ONE state championship this year.
To be fair valle doesn’t have a single D1 athlete and I can not recall if they’ve ever had one. Valle also hasn’t been anything close to what they were the past three years. John Burroughs was hated by a lot of people but their terrible now. Micds also doesn’t have more than one I can recall? I know they have a ATH who has offers to a lot of prestige’s schools in the northeast and I believe he’s committed to one. Anyway, micds also hasn’t been anything what they once were. Completely different situation.
So, it’s the scholarships that Trinity’s kids have gotten that makes you hate them ... not the advantages that EVERY private school has and uses to attract student athletes. And it isn’t the fact that private schools have been using those advantages for DECADES over public schools. You’re only upset about THIS season? JBS has won 9 State Championships. I think MICDS has 7. Chaminade took their first 3-4,years ago. Vianney grabbed 2 over the last 3 years. You remember CBC, right? Yeah ... no reason to think any of those private schools gained an advantage over public schools. It’s not like they had a bunch of kids that earned college scholarships while they were there. They all just won a bunch of Missouri State Championships. No big deal.

I’ve watched rural SWMO fans spew hate and talk shit about Trinity for 3 years. You can look back to the start of THIS season and read the crap the majority of posters said. Now that Trinity has won a trophy, there’s the predictable bullshit excuses and knocks on them from the same crowd, and that’s fine. Your issue against Trinity doesn’t have shit to do with private school rules. Not really. Because you don’t bitch about any other private school. Just Trinity ... and it’s obvious why.
Either way, Trinity and about 6 other private schools ran deep into the playoffs and 5 played in championship games. Hating on Trinity didn’t cause them to fall short for 3 years, it didn’t help them win this year, and it won’t affect whatever happens next year and beyond. No one there expects rural fans to feel any differently than you do. That doesn’t mean I won’t call you out on it when you do it, though. Missouri’s been this way for decades. Why would it change now?

I'm not spewing hate, I think private schools should recruit, they should use every advantage they can. They don't get public funds so they don't have to go by federal and state laws. If a majority of the schools out there don't think there is a problem then mesha won't change. The state of football has changed. I don't know if it is for the better or not.
I don’t really understand what you are trying to prove at this point besides ranting. Let me just say this to clarify since I guess I didn’t do it well enough the last time. (To be fair my last post may have been confusing and I can understand why). I do NOT like any private school. I respect the good ones, sure. For example I highly respect valle. They win pretty much every year with just a bunch of tough kids from around saint gen. I think, you believe, that we only hate trinity. I’m pretty sure everyone on here hates a lot of private schools if not all. Since you seem to be on here frequently you would know there are not any fans from CBC, micds, Vianney, etc that get on here and beat their chest about what they’ve done. However, trinity fans get on here as if they’ve done something. Trinity won the state title with tons of talent and many D1 athletes… in CLASS 3! That’s almost as if Mizzou were to go into the D2 playoffs and win, then brag about it. So we hate on them because you guys puff your chest out as if you did something. With that talent, at that level, you should do that every year with ease.

2 or 3 years ago, there was a lot of hating on Valle. They have been down by their standards, so that hate has decreased. Back then, it seemed that every post became about Valle, just like they do about Trinity now. I didn't like it then, and I still don't like it now.

Well actually I celebrated for Williams in case you already forgot. Love the guy. Also good for them, they’re great athletes and they deserve the national attention that they’ll get. However, people who make ridiculous comments like what you just made will be the reason why trinity is hated even more. A couple memebers and I have just been hitting with you and your trinity fans with facts and it turns into your only reaction being “your ass is sore”, “you hate trinity because they remind you that you aren’t better than them.” There are other examples but I’ll stop. If those kids were scattered across 6 or 7 different high school rosters as they should be there wouldnt be a problem. There is a reason why select teams dont compete in the "city league" in summer baseball. Use common sense here.

That’s a fact. So, if MSHSAA’s rules are the way they are and Trinity (like EVERY other private school in Missouri) is following those rules ... why hate Trinity? Why not rage and complain about and to the body responsible for the rules, if that’s your actual beef? Where’s the daily complaints and dismissals for the private schools with multiple championships, if “competitive balance” is REALLY the issue? Is that not common sense? MSHSAA and their rules need to be addressed. Just because Trinity (and others) are technically ALLOWED to bring in tons of great athletes, doesn’t make it right to do so. Something a school claiming to teach morality should consider, perhaps?

It’s undeniable that MSHSAA sets the rules, but your beef is with Trinity for following them because YOU’VE somehow determined that Trinity winning State this year is where you draw the line? It’s odd that you aren’t fuming on threads here about CBC, Vianney, Ritter, Chaminade or Valle. I mean, you did slip in “and others” to cover your ass, but the only school you’re really pissy about is Trinity.

What point did you prove? You aren’t going anywhere. It doesn’t matter how many times you pretend to say goodbye. If you’re a high school kid, then that would explain why you are so emotionally attached to what other kids have that maybe you don’t. It’s an open forum, so you’re as free to come to the forum as you choose to. It also explains why you keep changing your reasons for being fake-hurt after you get painted into a corner. Stay in school, kid. Try sitting down with the AD at your school and have them explain what’s going on. Contact MSHSAA directly. As a student, maybe you’ll get them to act.

You know nothing about me. I didnt root against them at all. I dont even have a dog
in the Class 3 hunt. But I have some really good friends who coach at Class 3 schools. They are great teachers and coaches and deserve a level playing field. And they dont overcompensate for physical, moral and intellectual weakness by being internet tough guys.
Well, no. I said in the Gatorade player of the year thread how I really acknowledge Williams and admire what he’s done. I’m not jealous as if it may seem like it just because I’m in high school. I believe you and I just need to agree to disagree. You and I are getting nowhere and you made it a little more serious then I think it was supposed to be. I’m going to be the bigger person and move on.
