New Enrollments and classifications

I think the schools already know what level they will be in. Used to be some fudging by some schools to avoid being in a higher level. The way they do the count now that won't happen anymore.

Talked to MSHSAA. New classifications and districts won't come out until the second week of the regular season this year.

I don't see the point in waiting. For some schools it could change how they schedule if they have an open spot in their schedule or are looking to change tournaments. For most schools I guess it doesn't really matter but it could for some.

I believe the reason is because some schools say they're going to have a team (usually happens with girls) and then after the first week of practice they have a couple quit, resulting in them not being able to have a team. Then the district has one less team. Curious how many districts this actually affects each year.

I'm like you guys though. It should be announced when it normally is.

They are doing this for all sports, districts will come out at the end of the second week of practice, with the idea being to make sure all districts are full, I think it is football driven in that they don't want byes except in the catch all class, and they try to keep things uniform for all sports.

How do some schools already have information that they will be moving from Class 1 to Class 2? Makes a big difference with 10 students moving in or out of a district.

Probably just assuming based off their numbers. Maybe they have a class that is much larger than normal and with the new counts are figuring they will be moving up.
