Heard A rumor that next year the classes might be as follows

Class 6 (32 Teams)
Class 5 (64 Teams)
Class 4 (64 Teams)
Class 3 (64 Teams)
Class 2 (48 Teams)
Class 1 Fit All

Parochial
Class A (largest 32 private schools)
Class B (fit all)

8 man
Class A (165-225 population or top 28 schools)
Class B (164-below population or fit all depending on total number of 8 man schools)

Parochial Level (all private school 8 man teams)

Is this going to happen?

I heard Home School teams will be classified into Morton Building (Large/Small) and The Leader Guy's Basement.

Calpreps reported they will do it like California. Top 8 in all classes go in the Open Division (as ranked by Calpreps after week 8.) The rest of the state divided evenly into 7 classes. A lot of bragging and false statements end immediately. Winners get a plaque shaped like California.

If this happens private schools will get out from under the MSHSAA umbrella and create their own association. And if you think recruiting and enticement is bad now, let them be on their own. Their stated mission will be to go get the best athletes within their reach. As of now there are rules against this, wether the are enforced correctly is debatable, but at least there are rules.

This may be a tad dramatic. But it wouldnt be a problem. Good luck trying to get a public school to schedule you.

There is a reason private schools threaten this will happen, and really this should be every private schools dream! But they know if they are put out on their own with only so many schools to play and only a few being really good, it will be harder to keep recruiting kids to come play for them. Sure you will have a few but over time the lopsided games would get boring to kids and parents, as more private schools put education over sports.

Just looking locally Springfield Catholic is joining the Big 8 if they were out on their own I would say they are not allowed in the Big 8 they now have to travel probable up to St Louis to get games in all sports, you think they really want that. There is no private school their size around here or enough to create competitive schedules.

Yeah let them rattle their tails.

The schools that really gain the advantage (small schools) can't afford to spend more on bringing in top talent.

That said...4 or 5 evenly split classes with 2 private classes is the most equitable system which means it would never happen. The big classes ($$$$) like having small numbers in their bracket.

This makes tons of sense, is this a serious possibility? I can not imagine MSHSAA doing anything like this that would create an even playing field for both private and public schools. As far as private schools going off on their own I seriously doubt that, but if they do let them go. They already openly recruit and MSHSAA knows it. I care to bet if they leave, within 4 years they will return to the fold when they can not find games.

Let them go! They already openly recruit now, I personally can not imagine it getting anymore obvious or worse.

I think its really dumb to make a private school division. Lots of worrying about nothing IMO. After seeing the break down with the numbers it's even more dumb.

With in reach HAHAHAHA. I think a Kickapoo kid is playing in a St. Louis Private school now? Heck of a reach. LMAO It all about the kids, RIGHT?

Silly, this thread got a lot of air play. Where did you hear this rumor about separating private and public schools?

separating private and public schools will not happen. If mshsaa tried to do that, the state would get involved and mshsaa will do anything to avoid that.

Would like to hear the explanation why people dont thing the highest class shouldnt have 64 teams
