Moving to 6 classes next year. I thought it would be interesting to see where some of the local schools will fall. This is using enrollments for this year so school numbers might change a little bit but this should be pretty accurate.
New Class
Ash Grove 3
Adrian 3
Clever 4
Miller 2
El do. 4
Fair Grove 4
Hartville 3
Mansfield 3
Mt.Vernon 4
Skyline 3
Sparta. 3
Strafford 4

obviously these are subject to change with the championship factor and new enrollment.

What are the cutoffs?

That will definitely help Miller if those class designations turn out to be accurate

This year’s enrollment numbers are on the Mshsaa website. Walnut Grove would still be Class 1. Only 49 kids

wow... that is tiny. is there a site I can look at with these numbers so i don't have to keep asking you lol

Most of the SCA will be Class 4.
Salem 451
Willow Springs 318
Ava 313
Mountain Grove 313
Mountain View 257
Houston 249

Class 3 schools
Cabool 171
Thayer 152

If those cutoffs don't change too much then it looks like the only likely change could be Houston slipping down to class three or Thayer slipping down to class two.

None of these schools will be affected by the championship factor. That will only be for non-public/charter schools.

I know that is just for private schools. What I was meaning is if a private school gets moved up then some school must go down.

That’s what I thought would happen as an unintended side effect of this new rule. Someone on here corrected me and even cited the portion that said districts would just be uneven if need be.
All that work to balance things down the drain.

Is Thayer not in class 2 now? They were in class 2 the last few years I know.

I meant that it looks like they'll be Class 3 with next year's six classes, but they are right on the bubble to possibly stay at Class 2 instead of being moved up. But yeah they've been Class 2 for as long as I can remember in the current system.

Gotcha, thanks.

Where do you find the numbers? I looked on the MSHSAA website and can't find the 6 class breakdowns.

The breakdowns are not on there. Those were sent out to athletic directors to give a general idea of where the breaks will be. It’s all subject to change. Volleyball is adding a class as well.

And don't forget, people, the numbers on MSHSAA's website are for the current school year, based on last year's grade 9-11 enrollment. What next year's numbers might be will be determined this spring when schools submit them.

Exactly. I was just using this years numbers just so people would get an idea of where they might fall.
