Am I crazy thinking that's a really big number? SFA is pretty good. If they played 10 times at MU, I'd venture a guess SFA could win 2 or 3 of them. Might be a way to grab some extra Xmas spending money!

Bet the mortgage on it!

wcowerd, did you bet this game? The point spread started @ 20 points but 90% of the betting was that Missouri would not cover therefore the spread continued to drop to 14 points before wagers started coming in on Missouri to cover. The boys in Vegas had a bad bad night since Missouri did not cover.

No I did not. But you should’ve taken Eagles’ advice!

Buddy put up max through some website (can't remember which one). Not a huge hoops guy. Texted me with about 5 mins to go in 1st half freaking out. Told him to chill (easy for me, not my money), they'll eventually miss a 3 and not shoot 75% for the entire game. I'll admit though, after the first few possessions of the 2nd half I was doubting it!

someone educate me on the odds thing..I'm ignorant... what is -14 mean? how does one cover the spread...genuinely trying to learn something on here...first time ever :)
If betting straight against the spread, it means you bet on MU you have to give 14 points. If the final is 84-69 MU, you win. 84-71, you lose. Many things you can do to move the number. Parlay, purchase points, drop payoff...different sites offer different things. SVP's version of SportsCenter does a thing at the end that shows some goofy results vs. the spread. Called Bad Beats. It's pretty darned funny to see the reaction from the degenerate gamblers in the crowd in some of them.

-14 means Missouri must win by 15 points to cover the bet.
If Missouri wins by 14 points, all bets are returned to the person who made the bet.
Any score under 13 points means Missouri did not cover.

The boys in Vegas want an even amount of money bet on each team. The point spread is adjusted according to the amount of money bet on one of the teams.

Btw...don't always have to wager vs spread. If wagering straight up (just picking winner and loser), the odds or payouts are adjusted. Obviously based off of Vegas spread.

So if the spread is MU -14...then it's mizzou winning by 14, if it is SFA -14 then they are the ones winning?

Trying to get my bearings on this

Mizzou has to win by at least 14 pts for you to claim your prize if you bet the line at -14. Anything less than that, then you lose.
