A ton of problems with the MSHSAA district points after one week. Hope it gets solved in a hurry.

How do you get 0 points after one week? And do you get more points if you win in overtime than in regulation?

1 Lincoln 1-0 33
2 Windsor 1-0 26
3 Crest Ridge 1-0 23
4 Skyline 0-1 7
5 Tipton 0-1 7
6 Lone Jack 0-1 0
7 Osceola 0-1 0
8 Appleton City 0-1 0

and jamborees do count! West Platte is already 2-0

1 West Platte 2-0 63
2 East Buchanan 1-0 33
3 Mid-Buchanan 1-0 33
4 Wellington-Napoleon 1-0
5 Concordia 0-1 7
6 Plattsburg 0-1 7
7 North Platte 0-1 0
8 Orrick 0-1 0

You dont get more points for an overtime win but you do get more points for an overtime loss vs a regulation loss.

Not sure about the 0s but you cant get negative points as a final result

maybe I'm just not reading it right but I don't see how a team could have 0 points after week one

District Seeding Procedures:

a. Points for a Win/Loss or Tie
i. 20 points for a win
ii. 10 points for a loss
iii. 15 points for an overtime loss
iv. Add up the total points and divide by the number of games played.

b. Points for Playing Up or Down a Class
i. 10 points CREDIT for each class you play up (i.e., a Class 1 team plays a Class 3 team: 20 points). Divided by the number of games you played.
ii. There are no points taken away for playing down.

d. Plus/Minus (+/-) 13 Points for the Score of the game
i. You will calculate the point differential for each game played not to exceed +13 or -13. You will add the total points together and divide by the total number of games played. Forfeited games will be +13 or -13 points.

If you lose the game by 10 points.

Plus 10 for the loss
Minus 10 for point differential

0 total points

Or the coaches could just seed the darned thing like every other team sport does...

It might be theoretically possible to have negative points but a team would have to go winless, without playing up and the teams that they lose to would all need to have only 1-2 wins. In reality though I think it is nearly impossible for a team to be below 10 at the end of the year.

you are right. Didn't happen in the district I was talking about but you are right that it could happen.

It is not free from flaws but it serves it's purpose in seeding a tournament. The teams still have to win it on the field in the playoffs. The flaw was when it was used for selection.
If it has to all be won on the field (I agree), sure begs the question why you need this big long formula for one team sport.
