MOsports.com Super 50 Cutting Room
Floor
Again we would like to remain everyone that our Super50 was selected prior to
the opening of play in 2006-2007 and presented throughout the season.
Now that the season has become complete our list would take a different
complexion. Many of our outstanding fans in the MOsports.com community have
alerted us to top players they feel we have missed. This cutting room floor
edition of the Super50 gives us a chance to present top players that we feel we
missed, and those our outstanding fans feel should have made the cut!
Josh McCoy, Ft. Zumwalt South, 6-4, 175 Class of 2008
Easily the best player who we missed. Josh McCoy had an outstanding season as a
junior averaging ? and leading Ft. Zumwalt South to a 25-5 record and a third
place finish at the Show-Me Showdown.
McCoy who would rank in the top 25 on any post season list has great size and
the ability to score both inside and outside. McCoy will play with the St. Louis
Eagles this spring/summer on the AAU circuit and will display the ability to
score off the dribble, or with his outstanding long distance stroke.
Richard Anderson, Beaumont 6-8 sophomore, Class of 2009
From the fans:
The 6'8 sophomore had a great year averaging 14pts 11rebs, 2 spg and 2.9 blks
per game in the same conference as Leon Powell. He was top 10 in the conference
in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks. He outplayed #27 on your list Anthony
Booker head-to-head in a great battle. With Griffey being more of a perimeter
player, I state without hesitation that Anderson is the best big in Missouri in
the class of 2009.
Michael Craion, Ruskin 6-6 senior, Class of 2007
From the Fans
“Just reviewed your Super 50 selections and couldn't find 6-foot-6 senior
forward Michael Craion of Ruskin (Kansas City) High School.
The Ruskin Eagles went 29-1 for the 2006-07 season and won the Class 4 State
Championship. On the way to the championship, the Michael Craion-led Ruskin
Eagles beat teams represented by Goode (#1), Dixon (#6) twice, Coy (#9),
Fletcher (#11), Hurtt (#20), Newton (#34), Hill (#37), and Henderson (#47). The
lone Ruskin lost was to Teahan (#7) in the first game of the season with Craion
not on the floor.”
Bryant Allen, Maplewood, 6-0 155, Class of 2009
A super talented combo guard sophomore guard Bryant Allen has emerged as one of
the top 35 players in the Show-Me State in this his sophomore campaign. Allen is
currently a low major Division I recruit, but has two years to develop his
already outstanding game. This season for head coach Corey Frazier the talented
guard averaged 24 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists per game.
Dominique Lane, Northeast, 6-4 wing, Class of 2008
Lane put together a solid season at Northeast, picking up Interscholastic
all-league honors.
From the Fans
“How about Dominique Lane, JR forward from Northeast High School? Just
curious. Thank you for all you guys do!”
Richard Rose, Troy, 6-2 180, Class of 2007
Rose closed out a solid career at Troy High School averaging 19 points per game
while connecting on nearly 40% of his three point attempts. Rose who is hard
nosed, has good size at the shooting guard position, and really elevates on his
jump shot will play his college basketball at Lindenwood University.
Dominique Long, Waynesville , Class of 2008
From the fans:
“In the super 50 i think you forgot Dominique Long from Waynesville you have him
in your top junior (class of 2008) but he should also be in the super 50 he is
just as talented an in some cases more talented than some of the players you
have in your super 50. Please consider Dominique Long from Waynesville, Thanks
for your time.”
Rodney Ford, Affton, 6-4 175, Class of 2007
Ford helped lead the Affton Cougars to a 20-8 record and a state playoff birth.
Ford who has great size at the guard position, handles the ball well, has great
vision of the court and passing ability, and a nice shooting stroke. This season
Ford averaged 18 points, 8 rebounds, and connected on 35% of three point
shooting attempts. Ford has committed to Eastern Kentucky following a solid
senior season. Although we were aware of Ford as we compiled the Super50 we
didn’t realize what a solid senior campaign he would put together.
Colby Smith, Central (St. Joseph), Class of 2007
From the Fans:
“It's down to the Top 10 and I haven't seen any mention of Colby Smith from St.
Joseph Central in St. Joseph, Mo. His lack of size has scared the big schools
away, but a small college is going to get one of the smartest basketball minds I
have ever seen. He averaged around 24-25 points per game and routinely outplayed
Division 1 recruits like Jarryd Cole (Winnetonka, Iowa) and Derrick Washington
(Ray-Pec, Mizzou football), Johnny Coy (Benton, Arizona State). All this from a
skinny 5-11 kid who might weigh less than 150 pounds. I highly doubt he'll be in
the remaining 9 that haven't been revealed, but he shoulda been in the top 50.
To be honest, I expected you to miss Smith because his size keeps any colleges
from looking at him and he gets no buzz, but he's deserving.
Andrew Jones, Smithville, 6-6 237, Class of 2008
Jones is a top notch athlete who has dominated in which ever sport he plays. A
University of Missouri football recruit, Jones was dominant on the hard wood
this winter. Should he decide to play basketball rather than football in college
we project him as a low-major Division I talent.
From the Fans:
“Granted I have only seen a few of these players in action, I would have
to give the award to Andrew Jones. He has more heart than any other
athlete I have have ever met. I know this, because I am his sister. I have
been there through all of his victories and losses. He keeps his teams
pumped and strives to be the best. I think that has been proven through
his performances. Andrew is nearly unstoppable. Have you seen the look
on his competitors faces when he is driving in for a lay up? Even the
big men in the competition take a step back. Andrew gives it his all in
everything, not just on the hardwood. He excels in football, baseball,
and academics as well. Andrew is a leader at school as well as on the
court. He has an attitude about him that makes everyone else want to
perform above and beyond their own expectations. I know that some of these.
These boys are amazing athletes, but Andrew has the talent, the drive and most
of all, the heart. It isn't fun watching a really talented player that doesn't
have the heart for the game.”
Milton Garner, Ruskin, 6-1 guard, Class of 2008
From the Fans:
“Led team in scoring for the year
Led Conference in scoring for the year
All Conference 1st Team
All Metro 2nd Team
Neosho Tournament MVP
All Tournament Team Neosho
District Champion
Conference Champion
State 4A Champion
All District Team

Finished the season 29-1
Team Ranked 6th in the State

Avg just over 17pts per game
33 steals
Team Captain
“Milton Garner is probably the most under the radar, unrespected prospect.
Everytime I look at a list of kids he is never even put on the list in Missouri.
Wth a resume this good why can't he can't get a #50 spot on your list of
talented Juniors? Even the KC Star says he would be a good match for the
University of Missouri. Something tells me someone should really more research!”
Ryan Willen, Notre Dame (Cape Girardeau), 6-8 forward, Class of 2008
Willen was on the bubble prior to the time we put the Super50 list together. A
fine player, Willen put together a fantastic junior season leading his team to
the Class 4 title game. Willen isn’t your normal 6-8 high school junior. He has
the ability to shoot from the outside and can put the ball on the floor, as he
showed in Columbia, driving past slower big men. Willen is currently playing
along side Lafayette sophomore Tyler Griffey on the Gateway 17 and under team
and will have the opportunity to gain even more exposure this summer.
From the Fans
“Concerning your Super 50, I think Ryan Willen from cape notre dame needs to
seriously be considered. Not only did he put up a double-double in each game of
the Class 4 final four, he set the Notre Dame single season scoring record, and
his stats from the rest of the season are arguably some of the best numbers in
the state. Unofficially he averaged around 22 points 10 rebounds 4 steals and 2
assists a game. Also, I know for a fact that he is being recruited by several
schools, both Division 1 and D2.
Stephen Franklin, North Kansas City, Class of 2007
From the Fans
“This may sound biased, however Stephen Franklin at North Kansas City
High school is going to Southern Illinois to play football, but in
basketball he averaged 20pts, 8.5 rebs, 3 stls, 3 assts as a senior. He had
42 points (school record) against Lees Summit North, and had 28pts,
22rebs against William Chrisman. He had offers in hand from several Div
II's as well as South Dakota State, and Florida Atlantic for D-I....Just
thought I would let you know. “
