Mosports 100 Class 3
MOsports.com presents the Top 100 players in Class 3 entering the 2011
season. We will present 10 players each day in no particular order.
Today let' s meet No. 51-60 on the MOsports top 100.
Jared Edwards, Osage, 5-9 175, OLB/RB,
Sr.
A solid player throughout his career at Osage, Edwards put
forth a once in a lifetime effort in earning week 1 Player of the Week
honors earlier this season.
Edwards, a 5-foot-9 inch, 175-pound wide receiver, outside linebacker,
kicker, and return man scored enough touchdowns for an entire season in one
evening for the Indians.
On special teams, Edwards returned a pair of
punts for 98-yards, scoring a pair of touchdowns. Edwards added one kickoff
return, 83-yards for a score.
" Jared gave us a huge lift this past Friday." added Henderson. "He has
the ability to make people miss and is dangerous in space. He has worked
very hard in the off- season to put himself in that position."
On
offense, Edwards rushed 3 times, gaining 50-yards and scoring one Indian
touchdown. He added a pair of receptions for 77-yards, and a touchdown. As
the Indians kicker he added 6 extra points, helping him contribute 36 points
on the evening.
Not content to only contribute on defense, Edwards
had three touchbacks kicking off for Osage, added 6 tackles including one
for a loss, and had an interception, which you guessed it, he returned for a
touchdown.
"We feel we
have some kids that can make big plays on game night, this past week it
happened to be him. He is a great 'team player' who plays hard with or
without the ball in his hands", stated Henderson. We expect him to be a
great leader for us on and off the field, which he is."
