DISTRICT FOOTBALL
Week 8 Notes
Marvin Byrd III rushed for 176 yards,
Christian Brooks rushed for 149 yards helping the Lions of Ft.
Zumwalt East improve to 8-0 on the season with a 28-21 victory over Holt.
Trey Perry was outstanding, rushing 22 times for 302 yards and
4 touchdowns for Hazelwood East in the Spartans 51-33 victory over McCluer.
Riverview quarterback John Gould completed 20-of-35 passes for
420-yards and 4 touchdowns in the Rams 38-14 victory over Normandy.
Needing a miracle a season ago in a playoff victory the No. 1 ranked Webster
Statesmen needed no such play dominating Chaminade in a 39-7 victory. The
Statesmen defense slowed Chaminade running back Rob Standard,
while junior Q.B. Rayshawn Simmons passed for 186 yards and a
pair of scores. Aaron Daniels rushed for 108-yards in the
balanced Statesmen attack scoring a pair of touchdowns.
Nathan Wilson completed 10-of-20 passes for 160-yards and
tossed a touchdown in a 27-24 victory over Staley in a key Class 5 West division
battle. Mitchell Titone connected on a pair of field
goals, Jordan Wang returned a punt 77-yards in the victory.
Week 9 Showdown Games
Riverview, a 38-14 winner over McCluer in
week 8 will visit Hazelwood East to compete for the district 3
championship. A contrast in syles, the Rams must limited Perry and the
Spartan running game, while the Spartans look to pressure Gould limiting the
Rams passing game.
Ft. Zumwalt East, 8-0 on the season and 3-0
in district play will host Timberland(2-0) in their final game
of the 2010 season as the attempt to complete a perfect season and prepare for
post season play. While each team can make the playoffs, the district 4
winner earns a bye in the opening round.
The Glendale Falcons(3-5 2-0) visit the
Lebanon Yellow Jackets(8-0 2-0) in a key district 7 test.
Each team enters +26 following big wins in the opening weeks of districts.
Falcon running back Adam Noble will be the key for the Jacket
defense, while the Falcons hope to limit the passing game and senior
Cole Matlock.
Lee's Summit West, a 45-21 winner over Lee's
Summit will take on Ruskin in a key district 9 test.
William Chrisman (5-3 1-0) will visit Raytown South(5-3 1-0)
in district 10.

Summit quarterback Myles Robinson completed 18-of-29 passes for
255-yards and 2 touchdowns in the Falcons 44-21 victory over Seckman.
